Any Earlham students out there?

Hi, As a mom of an accepted applicant to Earlham, what can you tell me about the college? Any and all details are welcome :)

Is it very challenging as far as the work load? Would you say the school guides you in the direction of service learning? In other words, if you hoped to explore social change and so on, does Earlham offer you the tools to make a differenceonce you are out of college?

What do you like the best about Earlham?
Thank you in advance for any input!

Applicantsmom,
While I am not an Earlham student, I did apply as a transfer. In terms of exploring social change your child might like to check out one of their majors called Human Relations and Development. It is kind of a combination os Sociology and Psych and you can read about it on their website. It sounded really interesting to me.

If one is looking for strong creative writing programs, some schools to check out would be:
Reed
Knox
Hollins ( If you are a girl)
Bard
Skidmore
Vassar

Also Beloit

Wow, thank DG! Funny, you were right on with the college suggestions as he applied to 4 of those lol! Social change is exactly what he wants to do, but is a strong writer. When will you hear about a transfer? What drew you to the school? We heard about it from that book about changing lives. It sounds fantastic. I loved their letter of acceptance and the t shirt and things that have made it personal! :) We are visiting there next week! Thanks for your information and good luck!!

Thank you Applicantsmom! I hear the week of the 16th of April! Soo nervous! bites nails One of my career goals is to be a private college counselor :) I visited and I loved the sense of community, the fact that all your teachers are Bob and Sue, not Dr and Professor, the classes are rigorous, there are many diff. ECS. I am a big Horseback Rider, so their equestrian program was a big draw. Also when I visited the students were just so warm and welcoming and so enthusiastic about the school. I also heard about it in CTCL, but since then I have met more and more people who have connections to it.
What was the letter like? I want a free t-shirt lol. i hope they save some for us lowly transfers :-P

First off, thank you for your response! :) I am hoping that you do get into Earlham! We are visiting this Sunday and Monday. Not only did they send a t shirt, but my son got a letter from a graduate from 20 plus years ago! WOW! I was impressed. Even all the way here in the Northeast I can feel the warmth of Earlham! They seem to have a very cohesive student body. Please let me know when you hear! I will be crossing my fingers for you!
