Any East Coast Colleges for Low ACT / GPA / SAT ???

Towson University - has marching band, about 35K and a little bit of a reach

Coastal Carolina - has marching band, 38K, more of a match

@Wien2NC - Thanks for the suggestions. We calculated UNC-C @ $32K, ECU @ $31.5K, & UNC-P @ $28.6K. I think I’m going to plan a NC summer road trip to visit these 3 + App State since I’d like to check out the schools/towns since the only place in NC I’ve been to is the Outer Banks.

@gardenstategal - U of SC does give OOS marching band students a $13K scholarship, but the average GPA is 4.04, so definitely a reach for me.

@Mom24boys - Coastal Carolina was on my list, but I learned during my research on this website that it’s important to look at the 4 & 6 yr graduation rates + freshmen retention rates & CCU is below the Nat’l average for all 3.

Thanks everyone!

How do ECU and UNCP compare to the national average for those three statistics?

@99FlyBoy

here’s all the campuses of the UNC system in case you want to research them, crunch the numbers, and add any to your visit list:

keep in mind that on-campus room and board seems to run from $9k-$13 per year, so if a school you like lists a cost of attendance over $30K, you could save $$$ and bring it under budget by living off-campus and buying your own food.

@LBad96 - My Mom started a spreadsheet so we can compare data from the Common Data Set for each college.
(I think we got these #'s from the US Dept of Ed)
Nat’l Avg 33% 57% 79%
4 yr 6 yr 1st yr retention + avg GPA @ U

App 40% 71% 86% 4.14
CCU 29% 43% 65% 3.42
ECU 33% 61% 80% 3.76
UNC-C ? 55% 82% 3.86
UNC-P ? 38% 67% 3.40
My “safeties” IS & OOS
ODU 23% 53% 82% 3.28
WVU 33% 57% 79% 3.45

@Wien2NC - thanks for the links to UNC campuses
