Any future politicians?

^^I think it will be interesting to see the political makeup of our generation. Compared to some past generations (like the 60s) we as a composite are more conservative and moderate. Although I think the liberal section of our age bracket is generally the most vocal about thier opinions, the vast majority of ppl are probably moderate. Which means that there the next few elections can really swing any way.
The concept of Democratic dominance I think is something that is blown out of proportion as well. GWB was a bad president and so the last election was an anomally, seeing as how people will forget that the economic crisis was a result of some Bush policies and will naturally start to blame the person in charge.
I think that speaks ills for Obama bc any gains in the economy will probably be at least two years from now and if the Republicans criticize enough public tide could easily swing away from Obama, especially considering the fact that about 50% of the nation did not vote for him.
Ppl don't respond with partisan responses, but does anyone think the stimulus will actually have any impact? From what I have been reading alot of the spending is on food stamps, healthcare, and unemployment compensation which I think won't create jobs but rather foster government dependence which will lead to more money being spent.
It seems like this administration will balloon the national debt with little pragmatic gains, IMO. And I would like to hear others opinion on this.

Well it doesn't help the republicans that their party just shrinks and the Democratic party just grows and grows.

I have to disagree Mal77. People said the same thing in reverse when Reagan and Nixon stomped all over.

I've heard a lot of that "OMFG, the Republican party is gonna 'SPLODE", and I don't think it's true. I mean, granted, there are going to be some radical changes to the makeup of each party, but I have a feeling that parties are going to have to become much more
moderate, no matter how the Obama presidency pans out.

I'm not saying we'll move away from a two party system, but I think the divide between liberal and conservative already doesn't always coincide between Democrat and Republic, no matter how much CNN and FOX want it to. If anything, the democratic process is going to get very specifically tailored to the wants of the people. The days of people voting between the lesser of what they view as two evils is over, because each party is going to have to vie for a largely aloof middle. It'll translate into each party essentially losing their 'base'....there won't be a guaranteed voting bloc for either side, and people will really start influencing national policy and not just party infighting.

Then again, I'm just speculating off the cuff.

Oh also.....If we're accepted....Bulldog days will be EPIC!

Why? look what we should get there early for:

From Of Montreal's tour dates

April 19 — New Haven, CT — Toad’s Place AA

....YES.

I like the idea of going into politics, so I plan to major in either Creative Bookkeeping or Lying to the Public. At this point, I'm totally undecided.

^ lol, 10 char.

I want to do EPE, but kinda just for the lulz. I have no intention of going into politics. :(

Sure, but an elected official and well-respected politician. Not a govt. bureaucrat or a no-name.

Hellz yes! =)

<-----very interested in politics

I'm an older transfer student and applying to the Eli Whitney program; if they put weight on my GPA and SATs, I probably don't have a chance, but if they consider my resume (ten years in corporate sales, targeting CEOs and VPs) then I may have a shot.

I'm a Libertarian; I'm tired of this country limiting itself to two factions that oppose each other merely to draw a line in the sand and not to stand by their party principals. So, though politicians **** me off and I can't stand most of them, it seems that the best way to have the kind of politician I want to respect is perhaps to become one or at least work for one.

Here's to Liberty and good luck to all of you Yale applicants!

i want to be a chief of staff

Surgeon General or Secretary of the Nonprofit Sector (a new position I'm creating)

Fastfood- What kind of C.O.S? Senator's? President's? Talk to me! :)

I do like the idea of working on Capitol Hill, and, depending on where I go for school, I may want to get an internship in the next few years. Does that sound interesting to anyone else?

Fo sho. Who wouldn't want to work at the capitol?

Well obviously working the WH would be amazing, but working for senators would be fun too.

Honestly, I don't care what job I have as long as I am enjoying myself and have a sense of accomplishment. What I do know is that I don't think I will ever be a viable candidate for office myself.
