Any future politicians?

You know who you are. How many of you here are future political science majors, aka the typical "Yale type".

Discuss.

I want to go to law school eventually, but political science and international relations are my intended majors for undergraduate.

Nice. Those happen to be mine as well =)

Great field to go into right now imo.

Yeah I like Poli Sci/IR as well and plan to major in one! :)

raises hand although I not major in PoliSci, I definitely plan on going to law school, which leads to 2 possible paths:

Criminal Advocate

Politician

Either one is fine with me :)

^ hookem took the words out of my mouth.

Darn you, hook. :)

Except slight edit: 1. Criminal Prosecutor OR Advocate.
:D

I enjoy politics, but not the extreme partisanship. I enjoy more of the actually debates on the validity of bills and the "boring stuff" like the hearings and the actually process MUCH more than the election rhetoric and the us and them dynamics.
But if I ever ran I would be a republican (which is good considering I live in texas).

I plan on influencing our policy....not on being a politician.

i just plan on being a g. take that as you will -- politics, skateboarding, rapping, whatever.

I'm thinking I'll be the Secretary of States's Chief of Staff. :)

YEAH! I would prefer something along the lines of Public Policy. I want to work in government.

I'm interested in going into Intelligence :O

^Do it. (10 characters is a silly lower limit.)

I would like to intern at a think tank (which would probably be a lot easier to do if I get into Yale) like Cato or something.

It does seem like the public policy route is alot better than actually being a politician. I mean you get all the politics but don't have to worry about being elected or as much with party affliation (at least I hope so).

^ Absolutely agree

lolcats, me too :) and i'm heading towards polisci/ir like a lot of you guys.

awesome, intelligence ftw!

Public Servant right here!! I was talking to an adviser one day, and she recommended I take the Kennedy's approach to discussing politics and my political future. They always refer to themselves as public servants, and not as politicians. I think this is a very important distinction.

Also, I am VERY interested in Yale's EPE major. In the end, I would like to be a public servant holding a federally elected politician.

LET'S GO CHANGE THE WORLD!!!

I plan on being a public servant when I incur a 6 year commission after an ROTC program.
I plan on being a politician when I inform politics.

Those are two incredibly different things. (Also, I really can't say much for most of the Kennedy family)

^As a Republican, the latest Kennedy gets on my nerves!! However, stepping away from partisanship, I believe the difference is nothing to brush aside.

The word politicians is today becoming a term that defines one who is in politics for himself (ie Blagojevich). JFK, who founded the Peace Corps, epitomized a public servant, serving the country he led and the world he was a citizen of.
