Any Germans here?

I translated my transcript myself and got my counselor’s signature as well as my school’s seal on it. I also had my school seal the envelope. Worked out fine. There is no need for official translators I’d say. But if you have that money, knock yourself out because it does take time to translate does things.

how many of you are in the G9?
I am, and I also failed a year so I will be 2 years older than everyone else… I really have no problem getting along with younger people here in Germany, but since American teenagers have a lot less freedom that German teens (alcohol etc), and for them college is like “woo-hoo first time away from home”, I’m really afraid I might be annoyed by all of my classmates within a few weeks. sometimes when i read the stuff my potential classmates write here I really think “omg, these people are going to college?”

Anyone else with these fears?

Halo Halo!
I’m actually from Miami but my whole mother’s side is German and I learned German when I was younger, aber mein Deutsch ist jetzt ein bisschen slecht.

If you guys have any questions about colleges and college life in the US, please feel free to ask. :)

xnamelessx - your fears about being more mature, and used to more freedom, than many college freshmen are quite valid. I think in your position it would make sense to apply to large schools in/near urban areas where you will have access to a greater variety of people and experiences. In other words, I’d avoid applying to tiny LACs in the middle of nowhere.

wuhuuuuuuuuuu my fellow germies…^^
i’m from berlin and lüneburg and applied ED to MHC :-))))
didn’t do the SAT cause they have an optional policy, just did the toefl. the 3 schools where i will (maybe) apply RD don’t want the SAT either… lucky me.
i’m so ****in excited!!!
plan on a major in politics/IR.
good luck to everyone ;-)

jepp, same here… i kinda count on the upperclass students and on the fact that i’m applying to a well know school where most kids study a lot. at least thats what i heard ^^

thanks katliamom! i actually am applying to schools in boston, because i love the city and have family there. i never wanted to go to a college in the middle of nowhere, i visited uconn with my parents a few years back (where they went to college), and i just hated it… i could never live like that, it’s like you’re trapped on campus if you don’t have a car… and living in europe, i’m so used to being able to hop on a bus/train and get whereever i need to go. so it has to be a city for me. definitely.

eagle: where are you applying?

I’m at UC Berkeley, graduating next semester. Originally from Koblenz. Good luck to you guys.

Was los!
Ich bin auch von Deutschland.
