Anyone is still waiting to hear from the financial aid office?

Albany!:) :)

hey, another desi here! who likes to party/dance? we should get a dance team started...any south indians? who's up for a party at ma house before the end of the year? (south jersey)

I'm South (Malu). I don't think I can come party considering my location haha

haha...ok fine...2 days before orientation is gonna be our party at ma cousin's house in roch...so that we have a day in between to get back into school mode lol...yeah, i'm telugu. close enough...

yooo mayn im telugu too..dayumnn

haha no idea so many indian peeps were going to UR

So anyone getting a car after first year?

Texas law is pretty lenient, I've been driving ever since I was 16. Do I have to take another set of classes for a NY State license?

Your Texas state license is applicable in every state (and by the way, you can't bring up a car, so it doesn't matter... and you don't even need a car as you have buses)

Note: If you are indian or like india, join ADITI!

I must ask, why can I not bring up my car?

Freshman are not permitted to have cars... (It is like that at a majority of schools though...)

yo Jaiii, awesome man! where you from? and what's ur name? is it just Jai?
i didn't know there'd be this many indians. and yet, someone who speaks the same native language...

I love how this thread just turned into how many Indian people are at URoch rather than any girls going :). Btw Im Indian too, though majority of you guys are South Indian, Im guju. Whoo

lol...i know...that's hilarious...btw, are there any girls in this thread? seems to me like there are more guys than girls...

hopkinslax:

I know that, but I thought I could bring it up after my freshman year...which was in my original post.

Sorry, misread...
Yeah you can bring up a car but parking is horrendous :)

Someone said it was wise to take a defensive driving course b/c of all the snow up there. My cousin at RIT said that she lost several ppl b/c of snow related accidents. How frequently do accidents happen due to the snow?

Being from Texas and never having driven in the snow, I suggest that you get some "help" with that. Snow driving is extremely difficult for many northerners and being a southerner it will be much much more difficult. Accidents can and will happen pretty often when it snows.

good point hopkinslax...i say we invest in a snow mobile to get around the area off campus...and on campus as well...lol

actually the roads rarely get icy....there's literally like inches of salt on the roads when it snows and the plowing is very good (most towns). Often times though, a storm can come through and the plows/salt just aren't fast enough. Thats when you have to be more careful. Most accidents happen as the first snow hits b/c drivers aren't adjusted to driving slow yet.....but after you see a couple of cars in the ditch...you start driving slowly too lol. Really, all you have to do is drive slower and get winter tires and shouldn't have any problems. Snowmobiles are awsome, but for fun only...they are also prohibited to be driven in many areas. Winter in Rochester is NOT as bad as everyone who HASN'T lived here is making it out to be!
