I've been wanting to go away to school for a while now but i can't seem to find any good schools that aren't so "excellence" driven. I am a good student though and I've been in the gifted program since i was 7 so i still want good academics. However, I'm looking for something that has a more liberal attitude toward student self-development. Any good schools like that?

Try Putney School.

Look into Cambridge School of Weston.

Thanks so much! I’m looking into them now!

concord academy is really liberal. its probably the most liberal school. milton academy is supposed to be liberal. so look into them. milton is stronger academically than concord, but it’s more sports oriented than concord so if sports arent your thing it might not be the place for you.

To the OP - I think you mean “progressive” instead of “liberal.” The majority of schools are liberal.

yeah…i meant progressive but i couldnt think of the word, haha

While CSW and CA are both more artsy than the average boarding school, neither officially considers itself a progressive school. Putney does. Another progressive boarding school is the Buxton School a small boarding/day school in Williamstown, MA.

[Buxton School](<a href=“SANDBET: Daftar Situs Judi SLOT88 Deposit All eWallet & QRIS”>SANDBET: Daftar Situs Judi SLOT88 Deposit All eWallet & QRIS)

I don’t really know anything about Buxton, but from their college matriculations list it’s apparent they send kids to good schools, primarily small LACs like Bennington, Williams, Skidmore and Oberlin. Sounds like it might be a good match for you if you’d be comfortable at a very small school (93 students 9-12).

CA has a reputation for being liberal, but in reality its educational model is closer to that of the GLADCHEMS than a progressive school. Not as traditional as Middlesex, its fellow Concord school, but it can still be a pressure cooker and may not be right for someone wishing to avoid a stressful academic environment. Still probably worth checking out, as the academics are strong.

Another option is Northfield Mt Hermon.

I would certainly give Cambridge School of Weston a good look.
Both Concord Academy ( a first rate school ) and Northfield Mt. Hermon ( top of the so called 2nd tier schools) are conservative in comparison. I think CSW originated the modular system, about 35 years ago, so they were definitely progressive, although I don’t know how they are considered today. It was an excellent school, back in my day, and I imagine it still it. By excellent I mean brilliant teachers, and very strong in the arts as well as academics.

I would have to agree with those who recommended CSW.
