I'm writing about being an exchange student in Spain for 2 months during the summer.

I have alot of ideas for the body/conclusion, but I can't think of anything that's really catchy at the beginning.

Would starting off and ending with a sentence in Spanish be a good idea?

what’s the tone of your essay?

well the main point im trying to make is that i’m a determined person. i’m writing mostly about my journey in barcelona. i’ve included a paragraph about the passing away of my grandpa while i was in spain. i don’t know what you would call the overall tone of the essay, it’s not too serious, but it’s not super jokey jokey lol

My suggestions:

-Running motif: Start the essay with a motif that reappears throughout your essay and ties into its main message.
-A quote. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn’t. Try it out.
-Start the story in the middle of an action. Like you’re in the middle of eating a meal with the Spanish family when you begin the story.
-A description of something seemingly mundane, but that actually has significance. Maybe like a carved rosary that you received as a present, or a delicious piece of fruit you bought at the market. Really detailed description. But don’t tell us what it is right away; reveal slowly.

Hope these help!
