Any ideas for international relations?

Yes to American and others mentioned, but how about Goucher?

I'm applied as an IR major and some places I applied to were:

Occidental College
Pitzer College (Pomona and Claremont McKenna are well regarded as well)
Lewis & Clark College
Tulane
American (as mentioned)

I applied as an IR major, have traveled extensively, congressional intern, I know what I want to do.

After many discussions with college advisors, etc. I decided to apply to:
Georgetown (SFS)
JHU
Tufts
Brown (Watson Institute)
Stanford (Heard IR has a lot of econ/math)
Penn (dept. has less funds though)
GWU (not being considered, but still a good program)
NYU (either gallatin or arts and sci)

I applied to others schools, but these are the IR powerhouses.

I am applying as an IR major and here are the schools I plan on applying to:

Georgetown SFS
George Washington
American University
Johns Hopkins
NYU CAS
Tufts

And then 2 safties which aren't really known for IR. Good luck with your college search!

Another vote for American University!

These are all great schools, especially for IR, but I'm a bit worried that they (ie Georgetown, JHU, Tufts, Brown, Stanford, Penn) might be bit reach-y for OP's D. I am absolutely not discouraging the OP from considering these schools, but some good matches/safeties are important too.

I had a nephew interested in IR and these were on his list and haven't been mentioned above: Vassar, Brandeis, Gettysburg. I don't know if he pursued those because of IR or his other interests, however. Just some different schools to investigate.

OP: You mentioned 1300 SAT's. Was that for all 3 subtests (Critical Reading, Math and Writing), maximum total 2400 (800 x 3) or did you add up the first two only on a 1600 scale?

Did anyone mention Dickinson?

Vassar is not known to be strong in IR.

^^ok then, he probably sought it for other reasons.

... indeed, there are many good reasons to look into Vassar!

The 1300 was CR & Math...

I agree that the JHU, Penn, etc are reaches.

I will suggest she apply to American, GWU, Goucher, Loyola, Fordham, NYU (reach), Rutgers.

D really, really hates the cold and wants to be in a more urban area, so Tufts, Dickinson and F&M are out.

I appreciate all the feedback. I feel like I've done my part to make sure nothing is overlooked.

We actually leave today to do some visiting!
