Any international Waitlistees??

theres only one person who got waitlisted in my country, Bahrain - me. No one got accepted btw… so do i have a huge chance? I mean they are looking for diversity… and getting one person from one country would make them diverse!?! idk :frowning: ■■■… i hope they admit more than 200 of the waitlist this year…

OK please someone answer this question: AROUND HOW MANY PPL WERE WAITLISTED? 700? 1000? 2000? because Yale waitlisted 769 students exactly and those two schools are similar in a lot of ways

Yale: 26k applicants, 700-800 waitlistees. Or 769 as you said.
Brown: 25k applicants, 700-800 waitlistees. Don’t know exact figure but maybe up towards 750 or 800.

Harvard: 29k applicants so around 700-900 waitlistees one could predict. It could be less because they admitted 2048 which is quite some more than last year and it could be higher so they have a larger pool to choose from when admitting their waitlistees.

Usually about two thirds of the waitlistees accept their spot on the list. So basically around 500-600 on Yale, Brown and Harvard, I would say, are left to fight the last battle on the waitlist.

So in conclusion it could be 240/500 (if we are lucky) or it could go down to 50/800 if we’re unlucky. No one could actually say for sure, not even the mystified admissions office who won’t divulge any info :D

if its really around that number, that’d be sooo good!
columbia has around 2000 i heard though…

anyway,
does anyone know if they consider OUR pool (international applicants) separately like they do w/ application… as in we’re screened more and limited more?

It’s a good sign that we are not that many international waitlistees if you compare to the decisions thread :D

yes its a good sign.but there is a bad sign also, for internationals the yield is definetely higher.i dont have an official source to quote but Harvard’s prestige in international countries almost makes it impossible to not accept its offer.
Here is sth else i thought, i am guessing that if ppl from your country dont accept the offer then they will pull off ppl from your country that are wl to have their diversity?Do you aggree?

Yes. But this is if you take in consideration that geographical reasons are chief.

On the contrary it would be quite bad if one from your country accepts. Ouchies. :(

did Harvard say that they do that for internationals??

cause that would suck for me.
3 people were accepted from my country, and i doubt they’re rejecting the offer…

but im an international applicant living in U.S. does that make any difference?

How do you know how many people were accepted from your country?

idk, article was published with how many people got into ivy league or w/e and 3 people got into harvard from my country (South Korea)

Hmm how many of you here who got waitlisted as internationals have applied for Financial Aid as well?

i have not applied for finaid
