Before important tests, can people tell me if stimulants had a negative or positive impact on the mind
(i.e.)- Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, caffeinated beverages such as coke, red bull, and coffee

i've seen some posts about about the positive sides, but i just want to see if the negatives outweight the positives

I really dont get people like you. Do you feel that you are not good enough to take this test without any supplements in your body? Do you feel your unsimulated mind is not good enough? I feel bad for you.

My advice - Dont take anything. Get a good nights sleep. Do not generalize the effects of a product based on what two or three people say. It will NOT work the same on everyone. Why would you even think about risking it? If there was a product that helped everyone evenly i think we would all know about it. If you never drank coffee in your life this would not be a good time to start. On that note i dont think coke has enough cafeine to effect your mind significantly.

Well,
I got diagnosed with A.D.D. not too long ago, and the doctor prescribed me some stimulant called adderall. I don't like taking it because i believe in just being natural. I even hate taken advil for headaches. While i am on the drug, i feel amazing, like i can retain so much more information on this than my normal mind state. However, i don't know how it is going to be during a standardized test with time constraints. When i took my midterms on it, i was the last one finish (i didn't study nor did i pay attention during the school year with a dismal 3 Ds, annd the rest Cs), and i still got the best grade in 3 out of my 4 classes. You might be thinking just take a practice SAT test, with the testing conditions. Well i already did, it was one of my midterms (it was my first one), and i actually got a very par grade of around 500 each. I usually am good at tests like that, but i'm thinking maybe since i am not used to the drug thats why i did so bad. If it were up to me, i wouldn't even the drug for the test, but my mom says it will help me. I more 60% don't take, rather than %40 take it. I just would like to hear people's scores while on some kind of stimulant, so maybe i can change my mind, and be more on my mom's perspective.

if you normally drink coffee, have some before the test. If you don't normally consume caffeine you may be too jittery to concentrate. Adderall and Ritalin are basically speed, and you should not take either unless prescribed by your doctor. Also even with a prescription, do not start any new meds on test day that may affect your concentration. If you do not have ADD/ADHD the side effects will be unpleasant and it will not help you.

Okay, I just read your second post... the top still applies to anyone else wondering. I think you should begin taking adderall on a regular basis and see if your grades improve before taking it on the test day. I also have mild ADD, and I do not take medication for it... and did just fine on the SAT.
