Any Motivation Tips for SAT Studying?

:B Please? I have about two weeks left until my first SAT, and I need to get motivated. Lately, I've been so tired of studying (I've been following the same dull life-routine everyday) and I can't seem to sit down straight and get serious.

I'd really appreciate any tips or advice. I seriously want to study hard through these last two weeks; I don't want to come the day before the test and find myself feeling sorry that I didn't work hard enough when I had the chance.

Thank you so much!!

You're going to fail in life. Go and study the SAT or else you won't get into a good college nor will you make any money.

This test is very important. Would you rather do 2 weeks of studying or spend your lifetime in a low level, low paying job?

Think of the SAT as a sort of game on paper. And if you win the game, the life rewards are staggering.

If you lose, things won't be so good.

Let's say you work 100 hours for the SAT and the resulting 200 point shift in your score gets you a $10k scholarship. That's $100 an hour.

Try motivational theory: Break the task into small, managable segments, and then reward yourself for each segment. Facing the task as a whole will make it too stressful for yourself.

Get off the computer, open that prep book, and go.

No easy way.

Visualize yourself getting a great score and realize that the only way that's going to happen is if you go study NOW.

I agree with the tip about breaking it up into manageable segments. It makes for more efficient studying.

start reading Rocket Review, he doesn't put you to sleep.
If you don't you will regret it for a long time. think of the rewards.
aim high.

where can i find rocket review, online or at a bookstore?

^^ Rocketreview can be found at B&N...that's where I bought my copy.

It's actually a useful book but I prefer the PR book...

I would recommend scheduling actual times and days that you are going to study and adhering to it religiously. Its about the only way I can get strong consistent studying time in.

study for the sat man...or woman. if u dont, u will end up at mcdonalds flipping burgers for life.

flipping burgers for life, listening to customers complaining about 2340s.

and after you done flipping those burgers, you'll be driving home in your wrecked 60s toyota minivan while all those 2300s drive home in bmws eatting your burgers.

yup;

btw, i think that amazon is cheaper than bn not sure

or better yet, those 2340's don't even eat your hamburgers. They order a salad or a parfait and laugh at you as u cook the burgers for other people.

People with 2340s also have better luck with relationships...ever had an unrequited love? Well, a 2340 is the ticket to solving your problems!

^^ I wish.

Go to the library (or tell your parents to force you) with only your SAT book and pencil/calculator. Seclude yourself in the quiet room and force yourself not to leave until you finish a practice test. Then reward yourself. Repeat.

^^ That's what I do! Today when I was taking the May 2002 test, I basically locked myself in the library quiet room and took the test under timed conditions. I'd told myself that I could buy myself a new video game if I scored a 1450+...I got a 1490 :)

Locking yourself away and dangling the proverbial carrot in front of yourself is a great method for forcing oneself to practice and do well.

^^ Hey, that is a good idea. I may try that once or twice this week.

^ I also agree on that too! I think that'll just might work, since I've been SO LAZY these past couple of days (I BARELY get anything done!)..and the hot weather is killing me..DX

I'll try to ask my mom to keep me at the library for awhile tomorrow..it opens around 1pm and closes at 4:55pm. Hopefully, they won't close early because of the following memorial day.
