CFA's have to be in for an LOA.

OK, my mistake.

So thats practically everything except a nomination :P

Bummer I guess I'll take the test in Dec-Jan

SHUCKS!!! The Coach just called and said that my file didn't go before the board today because I'm in college and they wait for first semester grades before they go before the board...Looks like I'm back to waiting for a few more months. Gotta buckle down hard now just to make sure I'm as good as possible when it goes before them. Ahhhh I was all set to hear some sort of news, now it's just back to the waiting game. Oh well.

Hey PatriotCPM - are you sure about that? I have confirmed from various people at the Academy that even if you are in college your file still goes infront of the boards. If they think you can get an appointment its conditional on your grades being acceptable.

I really hope that what ive been told is true... ive been freaking out thinking that my file was being reviewed.

That was the whole reason i did this early! GAHH!!! I have been so stressed over this and now i have to wait longer?!?!? GAHHH!!! ::HEAD ASPLODES!!!::

I thought that the file still went in front of the board too (for Conditional Appointments), but the coach told me that they usually wait until first semester transcripts are sent in. You can still get an LOA then though, so it's not that big of a deal. It just kinda stinks that we have to wait 5 or 6 more weeks.

Im just curious where your coach got the information. My counselor said they still do but, bless her heart, sometimes gets confused. Im going to call her tomorrow and find see if she can give me an answer. My ALO has been on hiadous for a while and cant get in contact with him.

My college grades are released December 28th... Still a waiting time but my whole goal was to get things in right away when the boards started meeting.

I hope (for both our sakes) your coach was mistaken and both our files were/will be reviewed...

All I know is that he said something along the lines of "Our liaison between the Athletic Office was about to go before the board with your file, but then realized that you were a college student, and they usually wait until the first semester grades are released before they make a decision". I'm also hoping that he is wrong, cause I'd really just like to get this waiting over with. Even if I have to wait longer, I'm just gonna have to deal it. I think my college grades are released on December 20th, and the coach said that if I get it in like that day or the next it might be able to get in before they have christmas break. That would be kinda bad if they waited, because then college kids have the disadvantage of not being able to take advantage of the rolling admissions. I dunno, let us know what your counselor says if you get a hold of her.

At this point all we can do is speculate but deffinately hope that they were mistaken. I looked back over my phone notes and on the 26th of october and i even wrote down asking my counselor about college transcripts. I remember that when i checked academyadmissions.com it was something new that was missing so i called her. She said that files missing just transcripts are still sent to the review board and possible for a LOA. Again, she could be mistaken.

I talked with a cadet at the academy and she was very sympathedic. She stressed that there is absolutly nothing we can do and just try to relax and focus on our school studies right now. I agree. I am almost releived because all this week i was really stressing out wondering if i would get an LOA. Now that it could be even a month or two before earliest i am slightly relaxed (but stressed in the same way). I think cause i feel i am missing possible appointments. I say that because my ALO said that during the early review boards they tending to fill the slots up a bit faster. Basically saying that you have better chances in early appointments than normal. This true? Not sure.

Either way... no news yet.

Curious, has anyone actually heard of an LOA given out? I know a fairly good amount of people applying to USAFA, and no-one has heard of one yet. Looking back on the archives of this forum...the first one ever reported in earlier years was in December.

Last year i know spacifically everything at the academy was a couple weeks late. Reason was (according to ALO) major revamping in admissions deptartment. IE PCQs were sent out several weeks later, boards started meeting weeks later etc.

I wonder if they kept the same time table.

Hey patriot, i find out the final word (or at least i hope the final word).

I talked with my counselor today and she told me that if you are a first year college student with no transcript, your file WILL be sent to the board and reviewed. She even sent me to her supivisor so i could double check. Indeed, the supivisor told me that if you are a first year college student with no transcript your file will be reviewed.

If they decided you are good enough, you will get an conditional appointment.

ALSO: I spoke with her and she said that nothing has been sent out yet and no disicions have been made. So its not just here, but everyone interested in AFA have not received any-news. So guess we just have to keep waiting longer.

That's a very good thing to know.
