Our son is waiting as well. He has an LOA, nom has been entered, now he waits. The online status has changed from 'Letter of Assurance' to 'Complete.' Not sure what that means. Do you have an LOA?

Hang tight! All good things in life, are worth waiting for. :)

No LOA...I have an appointment to USMA. The LOA and Nomination mean he has an appointment as long as no DoDMERB issues are outstanding. The appointment folder should arrive soon. I have a friend who got his LOA in December, then his nominations, and for Christmas his apointment.

we're waiting too. My son has an LOA and his nom finally showed up on the website yesterday. Still shows his appointment status as LOA. Any idea how long it takes them to process things once they receive a nom?

No outstanding DODMERB, his was complete last July?, I think. Hey, that appointment to West Point is awesome! Congratulations! My son has one in hand to USMA as well. I am a doubting Thomas, I want to see the AF appointment in writing ;) His LOA came early Nov. from AF, but had to wait on the nomination interviews in mid-Dec. Oh & he has a principal nom to USNA & is triple qualified <no loa=""> but again, nothing in writing yet. Tick, tock, tick, tock........</no>

Wishing you the best & try not to stress too much. Good things come to those who wait!

Make sure you let then know that you have a LOA from westpoint potteran, that might persuade them to look at you a little bit more because a sister academy wants you. GOOD LUCK!

I really just wanted to let everyone else in my boat/plane know the decisions are still out, and we have another 6-8 weeks of waiting. Mostly just makes planning things more challenging. Have to buy tickets and make hotel arrangements for orientation late. Things like that, but knowing they hold the majority of appointments until March is both frustrating and exciting.

I am in the same boat as you...I received a nomination back in November but I am still waiting. I called my counselor yesterday and she said that 90% of appointments are made in March.

Two more nominations for our son came in today for a final total of four. All that can be done, has been done.

The long wait (for most of us) continues.

In the meantime, he's been scheduled for an AFROTC scholarship interview and his three safety schools are lining up generous scholarship offers as well. We're happy he worked so hard for the academy nominations. It has positioned him perfectly for a excellent education (aeronautical or mechanical engineering) regardless of what happens.

The senator's staff assistant left voice mail asking our son to call her. As soon as he got home from school he came in the living room, sat down, dialed the number, identified himself, and asked for her. We heard just his side of the conversation. First he sat straight upright. "Yes ma'am. Are you serious? Are you sure? Thank you! I can't believe it. Thank you! What? I'm going to run around the house and yell, that's what I'm going to do. Then I'm going to call some people, tell them and thank them. Thank you so much!"

He said she asked him if he was sitting down. Then she read an email from the AFA admissions office telling the senator's office that he had been offered an appointment and that it will be mailed on 29 January.

The same thing happened to me. The Academy staffer from my congressman's office called me while I was at school to let me know an appointment was on the way. I dropped my purse and my grapefruit (managed to hang onto the phone) and couldn't help yelling and dancing around. Kind of embarrassing, but I was ecstatic. Basically. :)

Our congressman himself called last night to tell us that our son had received an appointment to the Naval Academy. Our son wasn't home at the time, so I chatted with our congressman for few minutes. Now our son, who was set on the Air Force Academy, has to do some hard thinking. I believe still he's likely to choose the Air Force. But he really liked his tour of the Naval Academy, and the Navy BGO (a retired captain and P-3 Orion pilot) was very impressive.
