Any one interested in the Fredrick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program applying in 2014-2015?

@goodmom15 I sent an email to the president yesterday and also haven’t gotten a reply. I would have thought they’d have the courtesy at a minimum to confirm receipt. @KaikiD‌ I think Mr. Thomas is doing “damage control” and would like to keep this away from the president. Did your parents never talk to anyone in the president’s office beyond the secretary? She also offered to have me talk to Mr. Thomas but I told her he was the problem so no. The one who needs to deal with this is President Kerwin.

@c151515‌ we are done with Mr. Thomas. Time to move on frI’m him! I agree. …he’s going to try to cover his tracks.

Has anyone heard anything else from AU? We heard via email from Vice Provost Stallings about 10 days ago. We have not let this go and are thinking of the next step. In all the correspondence they clearly explained their process of the FDDS program, however they still have not satisfactorily addressed the real issue. They say they will look at the process going forward but how will really know it will change? Just take their word for it? So far they have not been forth coming. What to do. That is the real question now. Everyone I have told about this is really appalled and flabbergasted.

My solution is to not take them up on their admissions offer and attend a school with a better reputation elsewhere AND let your friends know how wuked up AU is! Ciao

@WilliamTell‌ my daughter accepted at SUNY oneonta. She got a full scholarship there. What about you? Best of luck and thank you!

I have near perfect stats, but wait listed at American. I wonder if my incessant emails had anything to do with it. Oh well, I got a full ride elsewhere. Congrats to your daughter @goodmom15 !

@Breezy9‌ is hard to believe you for wait listed. My daughter got accepted to AU but of course no money. Congratulations On Your full ride! Best of luck to you.

@goodmom15: We got a similar reply from Stallings. I was expecting him to at least acknowledge the inappropriateness of the process but he did not. Unbelievable to me that he gave essentially the same canned response as Thomas. I’m flabbergasted that the AU leadership would effectively support such an immoral, unethical process. My daughter was accepted to AU’s global scholars program but she’s not going to go. This whole process just leaves a bad feeling about the administration and therefore ultimately about the school overall. She’ll happily be going to GWU Honors. Shame on American University. They’re going to lose their credibility and many talented students unless they change their ways.

@c151515 that is the real issue. AU os screwing themselves. I’m so happy for you daughter. I guess everything happy for a reason. It’s just so dissapointing that the University is so immoral.
