We've received the acceptance email AND today, an invite to an admitted students' reception, but STILL no big acceptance packet (with or without FA!). We are in southern california. Has everyone else received theirs? It's April 1st.

I heard it’s white! (irrelevant)
Yes emails/ noo packet yet ) :
Don’t know how well buying plane tickets last minute is going to go…

Where do you live, radbunny?
Oops, never mind. it says right there, doesn’t it? :)

So Cal also

Weird, Nor Cal got it! And btw, it’s purple :)

still NOTHING (in socal also) besides the acceptance email. what part of socal are you guys (radbunny and shreddermom) in?

One of my neighbors got a rejection email from NYU today though

D. is in Texas. Got travel amail & acceptance email, but nothing in snail mail.

Went ahead & booked tickets & hotel. But sure would be nice to get an itinerary…

FINALLY got it on the 1st. Wish we hadn’t. They THINK we’re full pay. I really hate “need based aid”. Because…so many things (like very expensive cancer meds for a parent with health issues and no insurance)…you can’t 'splain on FAFSA.

NYU will lose a top 1% kid, who is really a perfect fit. It’s a sucky Spring Break at our household. But…we’re not alone. So, it’s all good…practically free state uni…here we come. Unless we win the lottery inApril

Best to the rest of you.

That’s unfortunate, R12. Is a visiting semester at NYU or a summer at NYU a possibility? I roomed with a girl who chose Occidental over NYU, and she stayed in a dorm with me over the summer so she could experience a “summer in New York”.

I wish you and your daughter lots of luck!

No, MissAmerican…probably not. We’ll have plenty of cash for that now…and I’d told her she COULD. But…I have a pretty bad taste in my mouth for a school that gives their supposed "SCHOLAR"ship money to students of (as they put it) “texture” over academic talent. My daughter was CRAZY for NYU. But it’s more that she just loves the city. It’s kind of crazy that I “take home” less money overall than the cost of NYU…yet they think my FAFSA says I should be able to pay in full. Huh!?

But I do have enough cash IN MY COOKIE JAR right now to pay all 4 years with her various scholarships at our state uni. That $240,000 for NYU? I’ll save all all I can and she’ll get “everything else” instead of just an NYU undergrad diploma. She was willing to give up a gift trip to Europe, yearly trips to NYC, a new car, a nice wardrobe, an apartment, money for a wedding, down payment on a house, etc. ALL those (and retirement for me) could be paid for with what NYU wants from us. We just don’t have it. I’d hoped a kid of her caliber would get SOME sort of scholly at nYU. But (only AFTER accepting her application fee)…they told me, no…they only give aid based on need. (that’s what a “counselor” told me this week. Sure wish I hadn’t ever gone to the CAS website and read otherwise. National Merit but no offer for the Baird program, top 1% ACT AND SAT both but no honors program or scholarship. NYU wants flavor, and her type is overrepresented. So…they probably ONLY even accepted her because they though she was full pay. That’s pretty sad and hurts my feelings. So I don’t think I’d pay for her to do any of their programs instead. Our uni has Nobel peace prize winners, Rhodes Scholars…so she’ll have to shine here at home for free. It’s all good. 4 years is a long time to have to “stay home” when one is ready to roam, but…she should be Ivy bound by then so it’s all good. Actually, still thinking about applying to Oxford next year. She has all the stats to be a “competitive candidate there”…but she wasn’t secure enough in her intended major to study just ONE subject.

Continued luck and succces to all!

in norcal…got it a few days ago but about booking hte flights thing…
you can rsvp here and you dont have to go nyc if your in socal…just saying
