accepted 4/28 via Email and received my packet through snail mail on 4/30. Not going though, so hopefully they pull one of you guys up from the waitlist!

Congratulations, even though you’re not attending! Do you know where you’re going instead? I think I remember reading your posts on other threads, but I don’t remember which ones…

@transferstudentx: From my experience, Boston has always been colder than New York. I go to Boston/New York at least once a year, so I kind of know how it is… But coming from Southern CA, where a little rain starts to freak people out, it’s going to be extremely different. Weather is a concern for all the schools so far. And thanks for the heads up about financial aid. I’ll give them a call asap and see how that goes! Good to hear that I’m not the only one with the lack of credits… Well not really good, but I feel better now that I know that I’m not the only one since that was the one thing that was on my mind the whole day.

Do you know how housing’s going to be? From the admission letter, it sounded like housing isn’t guaranteed? And this is a bit off topic, but how’s the nightlife in Boston? Like is there a lot to do? One thing that excites me about Boston? Celtics! :)

So what major are you?

@hpnotiq: I’m not sure if the housing situation is different for juniors, but for sophomores the website says they’re almost certain they’re going to be able to offer it to all who want it (which is the same thing that every other school I applied to said). Nightlife in Boston–there’s anything you’re looking for, clubs, dancing, etc. and of course endless college parties of every variety, e.g. frat parties, etc. especially at MIT. I’m not really into sports so I’m not sure how that works, but there are lots of enthusiastic fans around the city whenever there’s a game. It’s also kind of fun how the entire city comes out for St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo. I’m not really into the party scene, but there’s always something to do in Boston either way, with galleries and theater and other stuff.

I’m an English major (for now) but I’m thinking of switching to Politics. You?

Why has Brandeis taken so long to publish their yield information for the year and other statistics? Its newspaper rarely updates!

@transferstudentx: Thanks for all the great information. Guess I’m going to have to jump on the housing right away since it would be suck to find out I didn’t have a place to stay… Boston does sound amazing. Too bad it takes $9.50 to make it out from Waltham and go back unless there’s another way? The last time I was in Boston, I just took the commuter rail. One more question, sorry about the question overload. Is Waltham like a busy city? I know it’s supposed to be suburban area, but it really didn’t look like it. It looked more like a little town.

I’m a Biology and Urban Studies major. Looks like I’m going to have to drop the double major and just focus on Biology since they don’t offer anything like that at Brandeis.

@hpnotiq: It’s no problem! The other way to get into Boston/Cambridge from Brandeis is free, it’s the “Bran Van” which some say can be unreliable (since students drive it) but it runs from Thursday nights until Sunday nights I think, every hour or two hours or something. Waltham is a small city with around 60,000 people I think, and the area around the school is suburban but there are definitely businesses and restaurants within walking distance (I drove around to check it out, haha). There’s also another college in Waltham, Bentley, though I’ve heard there isn’t much interaction between Brandeis students and Bentley students besides a couple of sporting events (for fun).

@transferstudentx: Hmm I remember hearing about the van thingy during the information session at Brandeis, but yeah it doesn’t seem quite reliable. And wow, Waltham is tiny! I just Wiki’d it and you’re about right with the 60,000 pop. I’m very much surprised by that. The current city I’m in is suburban, but with double Waltham’s population.

I’m seriously on the fence about Brandeis. I really love the whole atmosphere there, but I just feel like it’s not the kind of school I’m looking for, but as of now, it’s the best school I’ve gotten in. Do you know how Brandeis is when it comes to FA? I’m still waiting on mine even though I called them.

Oh and was your FA information sent to your Brandeis email? Or your personal? I’m thinking maybe I didn’t get my FA yet because I haven’t set up my Brandeis account.

My FA info was sent through snail mail to my permanent address before I made my UNET account.

Congrats on getting in, btw!

The morning after I got my acceptance in an email, I called asking about financial aid. They emailed me my FA award in an attachment that afternoon. A few days later I got a physical copy of it in the mail.

@heymissy: Thanks for your reply! And thank you for the congrats too!

@transferstudentx: Once again, thank you for all your help. I truly appreciate it.

Have you guys turned in your deposit? They’re due tomorrow (5/28)! Thankfully they extended the due date for me until 6/4 since I’m sitll waiting for finaid from Fordham. But it does look like I’m heading to Brandeis…

I wasn’t sure before because I had some other appealing offers, but the combination of all the things I like about Brandeis and the better financial aid they offered me meant I sent in the deposit Tuesday!

Congrats for confirming! I’m gonna see if I can buy myself another week since Fordham is being a pain.

So I’m going to Brandeis. Sending out my form and paying the deposit today…

You made a great decision.
You going to love it!

I’ve decided to attend, too! Did you guys already fill out the advising questionnaire? I got an email saying that the questionnaire is on sage, but I can’t find it. Help please :)

Yeah, I got that same email but couldn’t find it either, so I called today, and they told me that they don’t have it up on the transfer sage yet because of problems and they’re working on it (and that obviously it doesn’t have to be done yet consequently). But they expect it to be up by Monday morning.

Hm I just stopped by here to ask about the Advising Questionnaire since I couldn’t find it. Looks like you guys are already ahead of the game. But I did just check and couldn’t find it unless I’m blind.

So on a side note, have you guys used your bmail account yet? I have it so that it forwards all my email to my gmail account, but it looks like they don’t have the option to have it forwarded and sent to your bmail inbox?

Oh and have you guys turned in your request for dorming? I just did it and I wasn’t sure what year (sophomore, junior, senior) to put in? On my transcript evaluation form, it told me that I was a sophomore… But I just ended up putting junior since technically I am a junior. Although living inside the castle would be pretty cool!

Yeah, I can’t find it yet either. They must still be working on it. Yeah, I’ve used the bmail account. I don’t know about forwarded another email to bmail, only the other way around, though it may be possible.

Wait, you’ve turned in a housing request?! Did you get a form in the mail? Or was it on sage? If it was on sage, where?
