Any Outside Scholarships Left?

Hi,

I have been so busy this semester working on college apps that I was unable to put time into finding scholarships. Does anyone know of any outside scholarships whose deadline hasn’t passed that award $2500+ and are based off of merit (not financial need)? I have tried looking on Cappex and those types of websites but haven’t found much.

Your best bet is to look for local scholarships. Many of the applications for these don’t even become available until late winter.

See your guidance counselor to see what local scholarships are available in your area.

Just remember, most of these are one year, not renewable awards.

Each of my kids got about $3500 in local awards for their freshman years only.

If your school has Naviance, you might find a list that distinguishes between Merit only and Need-based under Colleges>Scholarships and Financial Aid>Scholarship list.

Those local and smaller ones should still be open. Only the large and highly competitive ones would be too late as they need a longer reviewing process.

I clicked on your name and can see that all of the schools you have applied to (Princeton, U Chicago) give good need based aid.

According to all I read here on CC, those are schools that will require you to report any outside scholarships and are then most likely to reduce your need based offer.

Did you know that?
