Time surely flies, with two seniors this year, I can't believe there is only one Parents Weekend left for me...

I’m a parent of a current Freshman so don’t meet your request criteria. But, I did want to ask you about your thoughts in reflecting back on Wash U over the past 3 years. If you/they could do it over again what might have been done differently. Will they be prepared for their next step… any thoughts you can share with the uninitiated would be most welcome.

My son is a senior (sort of, he graduates a year from January) and I lurk around here every day. We’ve been going to Parent’s Weekend every year and will be going again this October. We went all four years that my older son was at Wash U. We love the school and love going to St. Louis in the fall. I’ll truly miss Wash U when my younger son graduates.

I fill the bill…having a senior and now a freshman at Wash U. I stopped lurking for a while and then returned last year when we were going through the process with our 2nd. Time has flown for the older one, yet the 4 years for the freshman seem daunting again. We’ll be back on campus for Parents Weekend and probably again in February as we’ve found that it’s a good time to visit campus and seems much appreciated to break up the 2nd semester.

I’m a parent of a senior. Interesting question about what a senior would do differently, but I really can’t think of much. There are a couple of courses my son took freshman year that he would not choose again if he had a do-over. But that experience wasn’t necessarily a bad thing - it helped him figure out what he liked (and didn’t like). He has had a wonderful 3 years at Wash U and agrees that time has passed too quickly.

On the subject of advice from a senior, here’s the senior speech from this year’s freshman convocation:
