Who's going?

I'm going! It will be my second Parent's Weekend. I went when my eldest was a freshman, and now my youngest is a freshman.

I love Parent's Weekend - but I loved Orientation Move-in weekend too.

H and I are going. D says, "Is there ever a month I'm NOT gonna see you"? haha.

Here's the Parent & Family Weekend Tentative Schedule: Washington University in St. Louis :: Parents

We went for the four years my older son went to Wash U. Now my younger son is a junior and we're looking foward to it once again. We actually never go to any of the activities at this point but we enjoy seeing him and his friends and love the St. Louis area.

H and I are also going. First timers. Is anyone involved with the Parents Council?

How crucial is it to get tickets to some of those events in advance? D is not sure she'll be able to join us for some/all - kinda depends on schedule at the time......

Many of the events do sell out in advance. If you really want to attend, I would order in advance.

We were planning on going to Parent's Weekend, but now we are not sure since it is the same weekend as Dance Marathon. We really won't be able to spend that much time with our daughter and are not sure what to do.

Same here, bad timing. S would be very busy and we already know Wash U and St. Louis for many years, there is nothing left, but we are going anyway, a nice dinner will be just fine.

We are going as first-time freshman parents, even though our daughter is also dancing in the dance marathon. The dance marathon is 12 hours long, from Saturday 3 PM-3 AM Sunday. They have worked this into the Parents Weekend schedule and encourage parents to come watch their kids dance (and donate!) and even purchase tickets to eat dinner with their dancers.

I also am most disappointed that Dance Marathon is the same weekend as parents weekend. We go to take our children (who we haven't seen for 8 weeks) out for a nice meal, shopping and spending time together. I feel it was really wrong of WUSTL to schedule this that weekend, in the past it was the lst weekend in November. At least they should relax the rules and not require them all to be there the whole 12 hours. With it starting at 3 pm your child will have to back on campus by 2:30 or which shortens the lunch, shopping event. Most of us bought our plane tickets in advance and just found out this week about the Dance Marathon-the tickets are non refundable-

Darn. Wished I'd acted sooner (per the advice above!). Lots of stuff sold out already - including the brewery tour we really wanted to do!

If you have a car you can do a brewery tour on your own...it's lots of fun. We are going for Parents' Weekend for this, our S's senior year. We won't do much of the "official" stuff, but will enjoy spending time with our son.

Great! We will do that - and try to do it at a time that the WUSTL parents are touring - maybe we can sneak in with a group! Thought it would be a fun way to get to meet some folks! Do the profs lighten the load a little so the kids can enjoy themselves a bit? Hope so!
