Can anyone speak to the quality of the Physics program at Rutgers? What do you think about the classes/professors? Comparison with Penn State's programs? Rutgers honors Physics program vs Penn State's SHC Physics?

I'm not a physics major myself, but i know 2 people who are. They're from Rutgers and I heard the professors are really down to earth. There is no GPA requirement for astrophysics. Physics in Rutgers is known to be notoriously hard. I personally know one person who dropped out of college and 2 friends I know had struggled a lot. Quantum Mechanics is one of the hardest courses. Because the classes are hard the department will do as much for you to help you out.....you sort of get a special treatment as opposed to other majors.....I read in the school newspaper that some guy invented some kind of physics machine and he's really succeeded. I also heard this little kid (one of those kids who are exceptionally smart for their young age) chose to study at Rutgers physics department instead of the IVY LEAGUES. I heard from a physics banquet of many going to prestigious grad school like princeton and rutgers physics grad school itself.
