My son didn't win, but they did send his info in for the President's Volunteer Service Award. Everything was forwarded to his school and he received it today.

What's actually funny about this whole situation is that last month notices went out from our school looking for students who were interested in this award. Thinking that it just meant one more application to fill out he didn't even look into it.

Our darling daughter was one of the "distinguished finalists" in Massachusetts a few years ago.

The award came too late to matter for college admissions (after ED acceptance), although her essay was about the same community service project.

DS received today a Prudential "Certificate of Excellence, awarded to students judged to be, per the letter, among the top 10% of all our state applicants. He got a very pretty certificate :) as well as the Presidents Volunteer Service Award. Is it worth sending updated information to the colleges to which he applied?
