Oh nice! I’m going to Lausanne.

I cant login to wavenet
I thought i forgot my password so i called help desk and reset my password
but it still doesnt work …

Alright, as of now I’m deciding between two colleges I really love, Pepperdine and SMU. I’ve been accepted to both. I love SMU because its a bit bigger than Pepperdine and seems like I will really be able to get involved and meet tons of new people. With Pepperdine, I’m afraid its too small and I’ll be limited in friends. Does anyone who goes to Pepperdine feel that its too small, or is it just the right size that you have friends, but can meet new people all the time?

gwu_girl you seem to know a lot about Pepperdine so I hope you can help me answer my question. I was really hoping to get the regents scholarship but they ahve not sent me an email yet. Do scholarship emails come out all at once or are they spread out?

haha2010 - Call them again, they’re really nice about that stuff.

Jenqua - Congrats on your acceptances. You’re always meeting new people at Pepperdine, but it is a pretty tight-knit community. You’ll find yourself walking around campus and being able to name most people you see. I think that’s nice, but you might not be looking for that. There are definitely enough people that it’s not homogeneous and people make friends and form respective groups. For a more “active” social life (read: parties), you might prefer SMU.

tcobb91 - They all come out at once. Good luck.

Hey I was wondering if you could help me out
I recently visited Pepperdine and fell in loveee with the campus and vibe of the school.
Unfortunately, I was not on a guided tour wasn’t able to ask these questions to any current students:
1- Do Pepperdine students ever party? If so, when, where, and how often?
(sounds silly I know)
*I want to have fun in college while also focusing on my schoolwork. But I’ve heard that the students are so religious that no one everrr wants to party.
2- Are most of the guys gay?
*EVERYONE tells me that 8 out of 10 guys at Pepperdine are gay. I love relationships, so that could be a problem haha
3- What is the dorm life like?
*movie nights, can boy and girls spend the night together or hang out late?
4- How often do students go to the beach?
- I like to go AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! Do a lot of people surf?
5- Do students flaunt their wealth?
*I currently attend a private high school, so I’m used to seeing BMWs fill up the parking lot. Luckily, at my school no one boasts or acts caddy.
6- What are the guys like?!
looks, personality, interests…

thank you SO MUCH!!
please get back to me :)

Does everyone have to fill out the FASFA Verification Worksheet?

Am I the only person who hasn’t gotten a hard copy of my acceptance in the mail?

miller10 - nope i have not received it yet either

It depends where you live. I received mines today and it was postmarked march 26. I live in LA, so I’m close.
Michaln- everyone has to do the fafsa verification worksheet.

Pepperdine kids vary widely in how often and to what degree they party but I assure you, if you want to party, you can and will party hard.

8 out of 10 is a ridiculous statement. you wont find that at any university in the world. I guess there is a noticeable amount of gay guys but i would say 5-10% of guys at MOST

3.Dorm life is relaxed and cool. people lay out on nice days, go to the pool, play volleyball basketball etc. theres a stupid curfew rule that opposite sex cant be in other dorm past 2 am but it depends on your RA and i know of people that break the rule

A lot of people surf and most people go to the beach on nice days. Love it

There is a LOT of wealth at Pepperdine, i would say half flaunt but nothing too crazy. for every person that does there is someone who has $ but noone would ever know

I would say there are a lot of preppy guys/ casual surfer/ fratty. it varies

this could probably be in another forum, but on my Wavenet financial aid page, it tells me how much aid I’ve received, and figured all the normal college costs were covered by my aid listed there. All but about $14,000 is scholarships/grants/etc. and so I figured 14K is how much I need in external scholarships If I want to not be paying anything.

But today I became confused when I clicked the “Estimated Cost of Attendance” button just below the aid list, because that page lists the exact same costs per semester (broken down into categories) that my aid says is covered per semester. Does this mean I’m not really as set as I thought? Or is the “Estimated Cost of Attendance” just a reminder of how much everything is as a total?

its the cost without any aid or scholarships…no worries

One thing I’ve heard about Pepperdine is that the campus is like deserted on the weekends… Is this true? Or is there often something to do- like are there events going on all the time on campus for students on the weekends?

okayyy.
so i’ve gotten accepted…
and i was wondering what is the min gpa we need for our second semester?
like uc’s you have to maintain a 3.0 gpa…
so what’s it for pepperdine?
and what’s the difference between pepperdine and seaver college?
and how do you know if you got the dean’s scholarship?

yoummy, seaver college is the undergraduate school of Pepperdine

Jenqua - On the weekend, you can attend parties off campus, at UCLA or USC. You can go clubbing in Hollywood, explore L.A., go out to eat, go to the beach. There will occasionally be on-campus events to attend. I haven’t had much of a problem.

yoummy - Same as UCs, I figure. You can’t fail anything.
Seaver College is the undergraduate college at Pepperdine University. All undergrads attend Seaver.
If you received the Dean’s Scholarship, you would have already been notified by e-mail.
