I know GU students are most white. As a minority, Im concerning if any racial and culture issue in GU.

Did you by any chance go to the Hoya Saxa Weekend last weekend; it was a minority outreach program kinda thing. If you did, you might have gotten a feel for the atmosphere.

This was what one of the minority students said to me, paraphrased of course: "At GT, the main culture is a white preppy elitist mainstream culture. If you want diversity, you will have to look for it because it won't come find you." In other words, join alot of cultural organizations if you're planning to attend GT. I did hear that there is a strong Asian community, however, I didn't come in contact with them while I was visiting so I'm not sure if that is right or not.

In case you're curious, here are the official race breakdowns:

<1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
11% Asian/Pacific Islander
7% Black/Non-Hispanic
5% Hispanic
69% White/Non-Hispanic
5% Non-Resident Alien
3% Race/ethnicity unreported

Wow, Georgetown is less diverse than a lot of other peer schools. That kind of explains some URM's I know that were rejected/waitlisted.

GT is less diverse, according to the figures, which I found funny, because it describes itself as international.

Bottom of this article says this year's admitted class was 13% Asian American, 9% African American, and 7% Hispanic. This would not include the number of admitted foreign students.

Thanks for the good information - FirstGen

"International" doesn't mean "minority." If you're from England or Russia or South Africa or New Zealand, you're "white." If you're an Arab or an Azeri or an Persian...I don't even know what you would put.

i hate to be the one to bring up affirmative action...but maybe gtown is just better about admitting deserving URMs who are qualified and are going to succeed at gtown. being at an ivy (i want to transfer to gtown...hence why im reading the board), ive met an absurd number of URMs who are really struggling with their classes. affirmative action is not helpful when it puts URMs in a situation where they may struggle because they arent as qualified. especially when there are plenty of URMs who do have the stats.

URMs....just guessing here but does that mean UnderRepresentedMinority??

curious, that's the one
