Any runners here?

nosx: "400 m - 0:25
800 m - 1:15
1600 m - 3:25"

yeah right. stop your lying.

I'm a horrible XC runner, does that count? :o

wow it is amazing how someone feels that they can go onto a running thread and actually post something intelligent about a sport they are completely unaware of... there have been a lot of things said... and as a high school runner and a fan of the sport i am pretty amused by this...

BUT - nosx is full of crap... if those times were anywhere near possible (mainly the 400), then i will be happy to call the book of world records cuz i do not believe that has been done before... and your mile time is a bit fast for high school... and i do not believe you are anywhere near the caliber of jim ryun or alan webb... or, for that matter, know who any of these people are

i put in my two cents...

im done

*healthy debate is fun

i have a higher concentration of an enzyme in my skeletal muscle that spurs high lactate turnover and low lactate production.

Shut up dude, we're not stupid.

um that enzyme is what causes runners to last longer ?

You can have your enzyme.

World Records:

400 m 44.63 Michael Johnson USA Atlanta, GA 3/4/95
800 m 1:42.67 Wilson Kipketer DEN Paris (FRA) 3/9/97

Can't find the 1600 record, but here's the mile

1 mi. 3:48.45 Hicham El Guerrouj MOR Gent (BEL) 2/12/97

You're telling me you can run faster than Michael Johnson? By 25 seconds?

the wonders of pharmaceutics

How competitive are the track teams at some of the more well-respected schools? (I.e. Harvard/Yale...) Would a 48-49s 400m be reasonably considered?

MAtt, go to the team rosters for the schools in which you are interested. You can see current times and sometimes you can look at the bios of the team members and it has their high school best times. Dartmouth has always had a competitive distance squad. Columbia won HEPS this year in cross country. The truly great track schools are Stanford, LSU, Arkansas etc. Colorado for distance runners. The top 800 time for a high school senior this year so far in indoor track is 1:53. He is heading for Georgetown. Two years ago the top hs miler went to Rice (not a powerhouse, but building a strong program). Villanova has a strong track/cross country program, as does Haverford.

Thanks, MomofWildChild.

I run track! I was a sprinter until I started hurdling this season. But here are some times for ya'll-
50HH- 9.0
240m (relay leg)- 34.9
I actually can't remember any of my times from 300, 200, or 100 from indoor/outdoor last year, but I also long jump. My best for this season so far is 15'4", PR is about 15'6".

yep running is aweomse, I love it. I run in college now (DVIII)

I'm not very good though, and right now im injured, that really gets me down

Spaulding, who do you run for? You can PM me if you don't want to post it. S is a runner and might run DIII (he's hs junior now).

PM sent MomofWildChild

spaulding, do you mean 5000 and 8000M? because 8000K is really really loonngg

I used to be a sprinter (100 m), but now I'm a long distance runner (1600 m). Ever since I turned vegan, my running style has changed significantly. My high school's track coach has been trying to recruit me for a few months, but I love dance too much. I'm not sure if I can juggle them both.

lol yeah I ment 5K and 8K, dont ask me where those 0's came from

lol yea because I thought you were literally running across the country...in 26 minutes...

400 - 53.0
200 - 24.0
