I wanted to make this thread for any spring 2013 Oxy transfers out there, since the deadline was 10/15. Hopefully, chatting among ourselves will make the waiting more bearable. Congratulations to everyone who submitted their transfer applications yesterday, and BEST OF LUCK! :)

@nyccali - i am transferring from a liberal arts college in the midwest for personal reasons, but i’m originally from the west coast. i contacted the admissions office this week to ask whether oxy sends out confirmation emails during the admissions process (you know, to notify the applicants whether their files are complete, etc.) and the admissions rep told me that they don’t. she even said that at this point, no news is good news - they only pester you if you’re missing something. i’m thinking that we’ll be hearing from oxy by mid-dec. best of luck to you! :)

@smiley
I just found out today I got in! The transfer admissions rep actually did send a confirmation email before my package arrived. Which liberal arts college are you transferring from? And might I ask why? I have a curious nature for the narratives of transfer students lol.

Also, you might want to try PM since those get sent directly to my email.
Godspeed, Smiley1!!

according to oxy admissions on its facebook page, the admissions committee will be mailing the spring transfer decisions out during the first week of december. but as you can see, some prospective transfers seem to have already gotten accepted. i’m just as confused and anxious! best of luck to you! :)

Good luck JBoyne!!
If anything, I was accepted a few weeks ago with an email from the admissions counselor that precipitated the snail mail admission notification. So, you might hear back first via email before the dreaded physical envelope.

if you’re worried about financial aid, I should say that it was strangely disappointing. I’m a first-gen, low-income student who got 30k versus the 52k cost of attendance. That is a freakishly huge discrepancy for a disadvantaged student like me. (Not that I’m trying to play the martyr card, but there’s no possible way I could afford to go on that package). Still, as compared to the rest of the fin aid packages I got, Oxy leads in its fin aid generosity by 1k.

Thanks for the info, I’m not worried about financial aid cause I am a veteran I’m more worried about my grades before the military stopping me from getting in…I still haven’t heard anything have you received anything in the mail yet?

Just to jump into the forum and offer a little company…I haven’t received anything either. Quick bio I applied to Oxy as a freshman with a 4.23 and 1710 SAT got wait listed then was not accepted. Since I havent heard anything from Oxy yet I am planning to attend Lewis and Clark next semester.

Welcome onaireves, glad to hear were not the only one that hasn’t heard anything, and I can’t believe you got wait listed with that GPA I am beginning to think the school is harder to get into than advertised.

Sorry to hear smiley1…i expect a similar result though. Ya jboyne i was surprised as well especially with interest from the baseball coach since my sophomore year. And if it adds and comfort or confusion I have two friends who are going there now with worse SAT and GPA scores than myself. It seems hit and miss.

Don’t let it discourage you guys!
At any rate, I don’t plan on enrolling in Occidental and am letting Pati know. Maybe the spot will open it up to one of you guys!
