I already have ENC 1101 and another class (intro to shkaespear). I need one more english elective for my major (Telecommunications).

I am already taking about 13-14 credits (4 of those being a business class for my business minor). So I would like an easy/interesting english elective if possible.

Thanks!

ENC1102. Insanely easy. You have a short (less than1 or 2 pages) paper due every other week or so. Final paper is about 10 pages. Though you can write them on any subject you want. Makes the class quite enjoyable.

Well I did not do that well in 1101…my quality of writing is not the best apparently…

Any suggestions on a non-writing class? Because I am pertty much done with my writing rewuirement for Gordon Rule.

Thanks.

Any other thoughts?

ENC 2210? From what I hear it’s not like writing arguments or cming up with stories. It’s developing writing skills for business and such.

I also heard film analysis (ENC2300) was a pretty easy course depending on which teacher you get.

If you’re looking to satisfy the Gordon Rule requirement more than a English elective, check out [GatorSchedule.Net .:. Course Search](http://www.gatorschedule.net).

Fair disclosure: I developed GatorSchedule, but I generate absolutely no positive revenue (technically its a money sink since I pay to host it, but thats neither here nor there ) from it. Its a useful tool that UF itself should have developed, but oh well. I only ask that if you like it you spread the word about it, and if you don’t, drop a comment as to why so I can improve it.

I was an English major with a pre-med concentration. If you’re simply looking to take an English course I would say skip 1102 and take a lit class, like the 2000 level AML or LIT classes. I had AP credit so I never took ENC1101 OR 1102 but from what I hear its more busy work centered around argumentation, ect. Most of my lit classes were simply reading and class discussions with two papers, a mid term and a final. I love to read so and the novels were generally quick reads for me so depending on your level of interest in reading and writing skills I’d say skip 1102 and just take a higher level lit. If not then go ahead with the 1102. Its pretty much dependent upon you and your strengths.

Thank you for your reply.

Personally I prefer reading over writing. I will go to an adviser today to talk about more reading based classes. I already have 20,000 words and I will be taking some writing classes for my major (Telecom), so I am trying to not get a writing class for my last english elective.

Thanks!

Also, how would you say the questions in most AML or LIT classes are? Are they mainly critical thinking? Or just questions based off the reading?

Thanks!

Most of them are critical thinking. Usually the first paper will be on a topic assigned from the instructor. Its usually about 4 or 5 choices that you have the option to chose one from to write your paper on. The second paper you generally formulate your own topic/thesis and write about it. Generally you have the option to chose which novel you want to write on also.
