I am currently a junior healthcare management major at Appalachian State University. I have started to consider my options in graduate school, and I really want to pursue a master's degree that will not limit myself to just healthcare. I was thinking of maybe Human resources as a viable option since every company has a HR department. The master's in healthcare administration is the option that most people in my major is pursuing, but like I said, I don't want to limit my options. Is HR a smart decision with job outlook? Or should I just stick with the MHA or MBA?

If you are in any kind of business field, work experience is much more valuable than a degree especially right after undergrad. No one wants to hire an MBA with no experience. You should work for 3-5 years after you finish your bachelor’s degree, and in that time, figure out what degree you need.

I also disagree with RealCamz’s advice. I think in your field, general is better, especially if you don’t want to limit yourself. Someone with an MBA can do HR, healthcare administration and other general business administration, whereas an MHA is tailored more specifically. I would look for MBA and MPA programs with specializations in healthcare administration, but that also teach you other things.
