Any tips and tricks and how to's for writing a good essay?

<p>Well, August 1st is just a few days away and I'm sure everyone is eager to start the daunting and nerve racking process of college applications. </p>

<p>Most of you have already written your essays (good for you, I procrastinated..), others have applied years ago. So to you I'm reaching out, asking you to share your tips and tricks and general advice for writing a great essay. Things like choosing a suitable topic, using contractions yey or ney, formal or informal...</p>
