Any Tips for Regents Interview?

Ds has his interview this weekend. Any tips for him?

Since it's on the weekend, will we have any trouble parking?

If he does win, how hard is it to keep? He has to maintain a 3.0 gpa and I've heard that is very difficult in mechanical engineering.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the same question about the interview. I’ve read that it will be with a professor in my intended major. It’d be especially helpful if some current Regents Scholars could comment on their experience. I’ve done a lot of Alumni interviews for Ivies, but will it be anything like that?

Oh great, you’re the girl (guy?) who was calling smokers crack heads. Any, real answers?

Remember that these professors are not necessary trained to be good interviewers. If the professor is floundering, the applicant needs to take control of the situation and guide the interview to make sure s/he gets the relevant information across while remaining personable and likeable.

Thank you Ms.Sun! That is a good piece of advice. What do you think they are looking to find out more about with the interviews? What makes them pick one student over another as we are pretty sure they all must be qualified, being in the top of the applicant pool, to even be invited to apply>

I have been reading your blog for a few years and have really enjoyed all of your advice on there! You are really an asset for anyone applying to the UCs so thanks too for that.
