any TRANSFER applicants?

yup, i'm done with classes.
I live about 50 miles away from pomona
and no, I should've applied to other lacs but unfortunately, that's the only school i applied to.
and yes, i would definitely take it over ucla.. 100%

my parents want me at ucla just because we live nearby, and also because they've never heard of pomona and they kinda want to say "my daughter goes to some big name school" (although pomona is much much better in many other ways)
I, on the other hand, am not really into name games and would go to some less known lacs as long as they are not horrible and are a great fit for me.

Lol. Idk why I thought you were a guy. Then you said daughter....

Anyways, do you play a sport? I want to play a sport when I go. Make up for my two years of laziness.

Can we go in as Juniors and be moved to sophomore standing? I want to go abroad and I don't want to have to rush to finish all the classes I'll need to finish to grad?

you did not read my comment carefully!! lol
(i already answered I don't play sports but I wish I had :))
I'm not really sure if you can transfer as a sophomore but I think you can take an extra year to study abroad?

Damn. They've started taking from the waitlist already? Does that mean they've decided how many transfers they're going to take already? I wonder if they're going to enroll more or less.

I called yesterday and they said the decisions will be "mailed out" on the 15th. hmm...
I'm gonna try again on Monday.

Btw, reading from last year's threads, there was this guy who got a financial offer via email on 10th around 7 pm.
He did get accepted on the 15th when official letters were sent.
Would this apply to this year as well?
I'm constantly checking my emails to see if there's anything from pomona.

Why don't you call up and ask if they're done with decisions? lol
I personally am too afraid to find out myself.......!

I called already. They said they were finalizing decisions and they wouldn't give out any over the phone. W/e.

I dunno about the email thingie. I don't want to get worried over something that might or might not happen -- which is of course why I'm going to check my email every ten seconds until I see something from Pomona.

Thanks MajoringBio! I never thought I could get more neurotic, but here we go eh? Anyways, 6 days now eh? Good luck.

"I dunno about the email thingie. I don't want to get worried over something that might or might not happen -- which is of course why I'm going to check my email every ten seconds until I see something from Pomona."

ROFL!!!!!!!!!! you're hilarious!!!
yea............ I'm checking my email every 2 hours gosh..
6 more days to go.... here we go!!

I just called the admissions office (again,)
and she told me nothing has been finalized and she doesn't know how many transfers they're taking this year :(
guess I gotta sit tight till next week to find out

Five more days to go.

The plot thickens.

What will you do if you're accepted? Any nudity involved? Alcohol? Police?

lol I'm a very boring person who doesn't like much attention.
Therefore, no nudity, alcohol or police will be involved :D
I might throw a party though, a little one to celebrate with my family (involving apple ciders maybe? lol)
and I'm gonna scream as HELL.
Aside from that, I honestly don't know what I'll do.
On the day it's coming, I'm gonna wait inside until the mailman approaches and literally attack him to see if there are any big packages. lol

But of course, I'm gonna get rejected so all my dreams will be shattered.

Hey. There's no room for pessimism here.

There's a Pomona street on the north side of my city, so yeah... I'm going to reclaim it as it's rightful owner if I get in. Idk, Maybe I'll launch a bottle rocket over my neighborhood. That I'll do regardless of if I get in or not. Seems rather appropriate for some reason.

What are you going to do for the summer? Travelling? Summer school?

Travelling woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm planning to visit my grandparents living outside of US in late June.

after 5 more days of waiting is over, everything will be changed - whether it's an acceptance or a rejection.

Anyone know if Pomona offers piano lessons? I just got a keyboard and I'm taking a class in the summer and I was wondering if Pomona had a beginner/intermediate class with lots of one on one attention? I don't want it as a major... Just for kicks.

I think they do. If you haven't watched the tour video yet, go ahead and watch it. They mention soemthing about music classes.. or lessons

Yeah I watched it already. That's another thing. Pomona definitely has one of the most interactive admissions sites in the country. Definitely one of a kind.

Is there anyway I could live on campus for part of the summer if I'm accepted?

Bourne -
Pomona does offer individual music instruction, for music majors as well as non-majors. Piano is a bit competitive to get into though, since there are lots of people who want to take lessons but only a handful of piano faculty. At the beginning of every semester you can audition and it's definitely not just offered to the most advanced students. The best thing about it is, if you are on even a dime of financial aid, private music lessons are completely free.

Good luck to all of you awaiting transfer notifications!

4 more days !!!!!!!!!!!

i'm losing hope...

Bourne -

From what I understand, only currently enrolled students who are working on campus - either in offices or labs - can live on campus.

You may be able to live on campus this summer if you enroll in the summer courses at Pitzer. Check their website.

Pitzer College - Claremont, California
