any TRANSFER applicants?

are there any transfer applicants??
I'm waiting nervously for them to release decisions on the 15th!!!
Anyone in the same boat? raise your hand!

If there are any past admitted transfer applicants,
I'd greatly appreciate if you can share your stats with us! :)

none so far??
no transfer ccers this year?

Haha, I'm trying to transfer to Pomona.

hey!!!!!!!
where are you coming from?
i'm trying to transfer from a ccc

i may be considering transferring for fall 09.

majoringbio did your school have a transfer agreement with Pomona College?

Lol. Houston? Idk, I just like the Claremont feel. Wonder if they give preference to in-state transfers...

liek, i think our school did... except my counselor wasn't clear on that point :(
and i'm not even sure how advantageous or reliable it is..

They don't give preference to instate transfers. To my knowledge, they dont' have a transfer agreement with anyone. The acceptance rate for transfer students is extremely, extremely low. They painstakingly make sure that the courses you've been taking are of comparable rigor to Pomona courses. Many of the transfer students they admit are from top LACs or universities.

Hope that helps.

you're right Irene
i know it's extremely unthinkably competitive...
they accept 10 transfers or so every year maybe?
what liek means of an agreement is priority consideration, nothing less or nothing more..
it's pretty ambiguous on what they mean by "priority consideration"

anyway, i'm still aiming for that 0.00001% of miracle... fingers crossed :'(

I'd be surprised if they'd even offer "priority consideration" to any specific school.

A lot of CCCs have this PATH (Pomona Agreement for Transfer Honors) agreement with Pomona.
But I don't really know how they work or what they mean since I didn't fill out any official paperwork which is... very odd..
plus, my counselor said "it's not really an agreement"....whatever that means

yeah i was wondering about the path, because it kind of seemed pointless in the sense that they just require a 3.5, which i imagine for pomona, every transfer student applicant will have achieved this.

that's exactly what i mean liek... :(

How can they not show preference and have a PATH agreement? That's a bit weird? Does it only deal with transferring credits post acceptance?

Idk, the wait is starting to become easier and easier to take now that finals are basically over. I wonder if I have to send my second semester grades.

yea i see your point bourne
i honestly don't know how it actually works..
i'm just hoping that they do take path into consideration first so i'd get in :D

at this point, i'm basically slaving over their website and cc day and night unable to do anyting else...aaaahhh
i hope pomona loves me as much as i love them lol

gluck to everyone else too!!

Why Pomona? Lol. Have you visited? You're lucky its probably a small drive from you. I want to visit to see if it's really what I've made it out to be.

They have a pretty cool admissions site. I've watched the tour a couple times and it looks so nice. I even applied to CMC so if I don't get in anywhere else -- hopefully I'm accepted there since they're enrolling a bunch of transfers.

I was researching a bunch of schools when I realized I wouldn't be happy at a big U. I was happy with student/faculty ratio at my current cc, and I wanted to keep it that way. Interestingly, my sister and I ended up applying in the same year for her being a senior at hs, so we researched together.
That's when I got to know about pomona. I didn't even know it existed until then.
The more I researched about the school, the more I became attracted. I never got a chance to visit before I applied, but I've surfed through their website so much that I feel like I almost live there lol.
Now I wish I had applied to more lacs. I don't know why I applied solely to pomona.
Chances being really slim, I'll probably end up in UCLA most likely. :(

btw, my sis has been accepted to some top 30 LACs and she's decided on one of them.

Where is she going? Is it in the Consortium?

Do you play sports? I'm bored. I just finished finals and I'm waiting desperately at work for any news on any college I applied to. Did you apply anywhere out of state? Is UCLA a huge step down from Pomona for you?

my sis is going out of state and I'm trying to stay in california with my parents. I'm aiming for lacs because I really don't like the idea of having big lecture halls with hundreds of kids and TA's lecturing over the microphone. If I end up in ucla, I won't be very happy... but I'll survive, I just won't like it as much.
as to if i get accepted by pomona... i'll jump and down and scream like a maniac and enjoy the moment of happiness lol

and no, I don't play sports.
god, I'm awfully bored as well.

Done with finals? How far away from Claremont are you? Do you only want to go to Pomona? If you were miraculously given acceptance to one of the other Claremont colleges, would you take it over UCLA?

Do your parents want you to go to UCLA?
