I got rejected from both of my ED schools, which means that now Oberlin is my first choice. I applied RD, so obviously I can’t get the ED bump, but is there any way to show them this or illustrate my commitment to the school?
I’ve already interviewed, though I haven’t visited. Should I try to schedule and organize a visit now (in the dead of winter)? I know waitlisted students send emails asserting that a school is their first choice - would it be odd to do something similar at this point in the game? I’m open to any suggestions, honestly.
You do have a chance. If it’s your top choice then visiting and letting them know it would not hurt. Unfortunately, your overall profile is very similar to many, many others. If you don’t need financial aid it will be a help. I suspect that if you will either get in or be waitlisted.
Sorry to hear about Wes, it was my oldest sons dream school too. He was rejected Ed, admitted to oberlin but ended up elsewhere.
I think you have a good chance and your idea of visiting, attending a class and talking to an admission counselor to let them know it’s your first choice can only help. My middle s is a freshman and it would be hard to overstate how much he loves it.
I know this may not be what you want to hear right now but even if oberlin doesn’t happen, with your stats, you’re going to end up at a great school. Luck!
