Has anybody who received a likely from Wellesley ended up getting waitlisted or rejected? I cannot find the stats on this-- how many applicants get likelys? All I know is that the stat for acceptance through EE hovers at the high 40s.

I don’t know of anyone who has received a rejection or waitlist after getting a “likely”. You’ll get an acceptance as long as you keep your grades up and avoid illicit activities (or at least avoid getting caught).

curbyourfear- Thanks for the info. I’ve looked up everything pertaining to Wellesley Likelys that I can find, and it seems that most people say that likely means a 99% chance acceptance. Still, I can’t seem to find any type of statistic or ‘proof’ outside of collegeconfidential. I assume everyone says 99% because that’s what’s been shown in the CC community?
I know this question is brought up a lot. Sorry, can’t help but fear the worst. x)

I am pretty sure you are basically in, unless you do something stupid like cheat and get caught or commit a felony.

I got a likely, and just today I received a hand-written letter from the associate director of admission complimenting me and my application and encouraging me to enroll. She also enclosed her phone number if I had any questions…
That sounds pretty guaranteed to me.

I’m an EE “likely” too, and today I received a full-page hand-written letter from a current Wellesley student. With the amount of flattery and personal attention all of the EE “likelies” are receiving, I find it hard to believe that they’d reject us after investing this much time and effort in trying to recruit us.

I was talking with an admissions rep yesterday, and she told me that as long as nothing drastic occurs in your academic or personal life (i.e. felonies, MAJOR GPA change), a likely is as good as an acceptance!

I had this same question when I applied last year, so I wanted to clear it up for anyone else who might have been stressing about the whole “likely” concept.
