@Mentorite Did it appear on his application status or my.osu.edu when he was accepted to Honors?
@Mydeskisamess His acceptance to Honors program does not appear on his application status and does not show up on my.osu.edu. We only know this based on email he received and snail mail letter.
I just got into Engineering Honors! Is this the same thing as the Honors and Scholars program, but for engineering students?
Hmmm…S was admitted to “University Honors Program”, and he is also accepted into the engineering college. The Honors communications do not explicitly reference “Engineering Honors”. Everything i’ve read about Honors, and having attending Honors & Scholars day at tOSU, i am completely unfamiliar with a specific ‘engineering honors’ program that is different from the ‘university honors program’. Perhaps somebody can clarify? Congrats on your acceptance to Honors!
I think they are doing it differently this year, so my D’s experience from last year may not be relevant.
But she was accepted first into the general scholar’s program, and then waited to see which one of her three specific scholar programs she was accepted into.
Got into Honors last night. 31 ACT 3.86 UW 3.97 W
Just got an email yesterday saying I was accepted into the Scholars program! 30 ACT, not sure about the GPA
my son was accepted via email last night as well into Scholars
A little anxious waiting to hear about Scholars. Does the email come to the original email address you used when applying?
My son received his email in his OSU email account, but I think he set it up as his primary email for OSU.
My S is doing his accepted student tour today (yes, it is cold!) It is his first visit to OSU. We have not heard yet about Scholars Program and while admitted to OSU in early December he didn’t apply to Scholars until close to February 1 deadline. While I don’t expect any specific news today, I told him to swing by the Scholars program at Kuhn House to say 'hello." BTW, we are OOS and he received Buckeye and Trustees merit; we are keeping fingers crossed for Scholars. Anyone else still waiting for news??
My son got an email invite for the Scholars program on 2/19. He applied with Electrical Engineering as his intended major. His ACT was 31. Out of State.
Anyone with a february date to rank Scholars programs heard back yet? My son hasn’t heard anything, but the email stated that a mid-late March notification of which program was assigned would be sent out. When I called two weeks ago, they told me by March 30. No word yet, and it impacts orientation dates and whether to apply for any learning communities by April 15 as an alternate choice if he declines his Scholar assignment.
I emailed them today because that’s what my acceptance said as well. I got the following back:
We will be sending out program placements out this week and next week! So continue to check your preferred email about which program you have been placed into.
So hopefully we will be hearing back soon!
@winne15 – thanks and best of luck to you
Thanks @winne15 Good luck to all and hope everyone gets into their top choice!!
anyone heard back? The “mid-late March” deadline passed, along with the April 1 date we were given on the phone. Their volume for everything must be off the charts this year.
@nuum83 My S reached out to Scholars and got the following response today "Due to a database update and consequent system failures, we were unable to send out all Scholars placements by April 1st. However, we are aiming to have everyone updated by mid-April, so keep a lookout for our email!
The email also said that housing is guaranteed in the Scholars-specific dorm so, unless you don’t accept your placement, your housing is secure. We already signed up for a scholars date for orientation since it is based on major not Scholar assignment.
Hopefully, we will hear back sooner than mid-April but as it is April 6 its not too much longer anyway!
@ResearchQ – thanks. My son is concerned that if he doesn’t like his Scholars offer, then it is too late to have alternate housing (or one that he would want). I’m not sure whether housing is guaranteed for all, and he did not receive a housing application yet to rank other choices.
@nuum83 I just am keeping my fingers crossed my S gets his 1st or 2nd choice. If not, he too will likely be looking at an alternative situation. The benefits of the Scholars Program are so varied (beyond housing) that I hope my S can find one he would try for at least the first year!
