I came into engineering because I like math, science and science applications. Now, I don't know... I'm getting nausea from all this unit conversion bull crap. And it's not just unit conversions. I find engineering kinda boring now. More technical labor and less design/thinking than I expected.

Are there anybody out there who got hooked by those NOVA programs, kind of regretting coming into engineering?

While engineering definitely seems more exciting from the outside, at least IMO, you should probably give it more of a chance beyond unit conversions. My guess is you’re still a freshman.

i’m going through the same thing right now, it isnt what i was expecting. I am kind of struggling in some of my classes, and I wish there was more design, but i am gonna stick it out for now…

As ken285 suggests, an undergraduate engineering degree covers many fundamentals. I think that a lot of people have the misconception that as a freshman engineering major you will be doing cutting edge design work.

This is simply not how it works. The truth about an undergraduate engineering degree is that it covers a lot of fundamental concepts and doesn’t really get specific enough to get into interesting design work. I can tell you that looking back at my undergrad, most of the classes were somewhat bland.
