I've been receiving emails and scholarship applications from Douglass (the residential college for women) and was wondering if anybody on CC has had any experience with it. How is it? Is it far off-campus? What's the atmosphere like? Do you like it?

I’ve decided that if I attend RU, I’m doing the DRC for four years. I like how it’s community oriented, has a pretty campus, and an emphasis on leadership and really making yourself. The idea of a large university scares me, but the DRC seems like a compromise between the resources of a large university and the connections of a small community. It is a pain to get to Busch though…

I’ll be joining next fall as a junior! I looove Douglass campus. It has that “college” look and feel.

I’m joining because of the whole “community” and the opportunities that are offered with their programs: scholarships, peer mentoring, learning-living communities, externship program, strong alumni connection, and many leadership opportunities. Plus you get assigned an adviser who you can talk to about how everything is going for you academically.

It is a pain to get to Busch, but I think getting to Livingston is worse. They have the express buses, but even that takes a long time >.<

I’m currently a freshman and I’m living in Douglass.
Cook/Douglass DOES seem kind of isolated from the other campuses,
but it IS a beautiful campus with deer, rabbits, nature…
It has a nice and calm, quiet atmosphere. And we have the basic necessities:
2 libraries, 2 campus centers, gym, fields, etc.
Right now, I have 8:40am classes in Livingston,
but if you will be living near Red Oak Lane / Passion Puddle or College Hall,
that’s where the Express stops so it’s all good.
I have applied for CDC again, definately coming back next year! :)
