if u know anything about Howard or u are there as a student can u pls help me.
i know they give full rides for the fall semester. do u know if they also give it for the spring semester?
i’m thinking of applying there. my application packet was not as they wanted it when i applied last january so they rejected it.
thanks

You got rejected and want to reapply as a freshman?

About the free rides, that's only if your family makes less than 40,000 a year.

Howard only gives free rides to my knowedge to students who have stellar stats and ECs and who are at least National Achievement Scholars. These are the kind of students that Howard is competing with places like Ivies to get.

If Howard has rejected you, it's unlikely that you have those kind of stats. If you have major financial need and are hoping for a full ride for that reason, that's unlikely as Howard is not flush with financial aid $.

MzLover3's answer applies to Harvard, not Howard.

thanx men. but do u think they give their free rides to internationals? i'm an international thats why i'll reapply as a freshman.
i was not rejected as such. my application packet was incomplete so they asked to to send the remaining ones. thats what i mean by application being rejected.

Check their web site for financial aid info. I highly, doubt, though that they give free rides to internationals. Few US colleges do that. Most such colleges are extremely wealthy, and Howard is not wealthy. No historically black college in the US is extremely wealthy.

I've done all that. i have a few friends there who are enjoying free rides out there in Howard. thats how i know. it is a predominantly black skool so i think they are out there to help the black people.

The problem is that a large proportion of US black people are low income, and Howard does not have unlimited funds. Thus, since it's a US college, students from the US will have priority. Even very low income students from the US are not guaranteed free rides from Howard.

From what I have heard, the free rides tend to go to American students with very high stats that Howard is competing with places like Ivies to recruit.

Here's a list of US colleges offering scholarships for internationals. I don't see Howard on the list: http://www.edupass.org/finaid/undergraduate.phtml

However, to definitely find out the possibilities, e-mail or call Howard's financial aid office.

I checked Howard's website. Here's what it says:

"No scholarships or other financial aid funds are available at this time to entering undergraduate international students. Such students should be prepared to sponsor themselves. A limited number of scholarships are available to qualified students after one year of study if the academic requirements are met." http://www.howard.edu/enrollmentmanagement/fin-aid/information.htm

thanks a lot for that link. never saw it all these days that i've been surfing that site. think i'll give 'em a call.
