Anyone able to provide some info?

Hi,

I am pretty interested in the college, but would like to ask someone, preferably an alum or a relative of one, about the school.

Some of the questions I have are:
Is it vegetarian friendly?
How are the people there?
Is racial diversity an issue (asian Indian over here)?
Do courses have tests and assessments like other courses?

Thanks for any information!

It’s usually vegetarian friendly. Depends on who the hired/professional cook is and depends on who the student cooks are. They might be vegetarian themselves. Even if they’re not, they’ll probably make an effort to provide vegetarian options.

How are the people there? Varies greatly based on the faculty, staff, and student body. There’s very high turnover. It’s a small, close-knit community. Everyone’s generally friendly and supportive of each other.

The school’s only had a handful of black students in its history and most of those have been in the last decade. But that’s just how it happened; it’s welcoming to all races and ethnicities. In recent years there have been greater efforts to pursue diversity.

Depends on the course. The curriculum focuses on liberal arts, so lots of those kinds of courses simply require you to write papers. More traditional math/science courses would have to have tests. Independent studies are a whole different story.

The college changes a lot from year to year. You should direct your questions to the current admissions committee. There’s contact information on the website.
