Any other surprising success stories?

sanjenferrer- I am def. not talking about you OP I'm referring to filled out this question: Why were your rejected from Cornell?:

with "The URMs took all the spots."

and that's just ignorant. I can see that you are not an ignorant, bitter person.

However, affirmative action works with the assumption that all URMs are socioeconomically disadvantaged, despite the truth, or lack thereof. If affirmative action were done away with and socioeconomically disadvantaged applicants were given a boost, one would still see about the same proportion of preferential treatment, no matter how big or small, amongst applicants.

Libra- I might've missed the post where you talked about your top choice... what're you thinking of doing?

Oh no, I posted too late. WHY?!
Just when it ends, I had to hit send.
Great.

And numerous non-URM students in the past four years alone with sub-2000 SAT scores, no legacy, or hook have gotten into the most elite of the reach schools such as Harvard, Cornell, UPenn, and Yale.

...I highly doubt that

White people definitely do not need to be perfect to get into college. Like ducktape, I'm living proof, as are friends who go to Columbia, Penn, Duke, etc.

Also, libra, sorry to be annoying, but could I see your essay too (if that's alright with you). I too am done applying, but I would like to see what an amazing essay looks like.

O_o,
Libra, so you didn't put down your parents' education levels?
I thought that was a requirement, but I guess not?
So it's an option to put it down?

didn't read the body of this thread but just in response to the title, YES!
7/7

Congrats! That is awesome! :)

lol ya must be kidding me
anyway ya smart so ya deserve to be admitted.
keep working bud :)

Maybe they weren't really reaches.

Ha thanks Gabs91 and legend.dracula.
itsthemendy I would consider Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, MIT, Caltech, and Cornell reaches in all circumstances.

wow this is amazing guys!

libra, could you also pm me your essay? sorry to ask along with everyone else, but i really would like to see what a decent essay is like. all that i've read so far were pretty cliche

libra, could you pm me your essay as well?? i already applied and everything. just want to see what an amazing essay is like.

wow very nice libra. you mustve really had a good essay

haha great, a thread for everyone to celebrate that they got into all the schools they applied to...

i hope to join this thread in just a few months !

Even though this is very late, I know I was similarly shocked to get into my reaches: Cornell, Chicago, and Princeton--with a very nice merit scholarship at Chicago! Just as I was getting used to the idea of attending my safety (only applied to 3 reaches + state's flagship). I wish this year's applicants the best of luck :)

Umm, libra hasn't posted to these forums in many months now.

Does anyone one have his essay that maybe they could pm it to me to look at?

hey could u send me ur essay too. thanks

can u pm me ;)?
thanks so much!
