Anyone agree with me?

Princeton definitely has the coolest, most elite sounding name of the Big Three, IMHO!
Harvard and Yale both sound OK, but Princeton really rolls off my tongue, for some reason. Opinions?

I like saying Pton, but I always say Prince-TIN, and it sounds kinda weird.

Hahvad… I like Hahvad… I must marry a man with an English accent…

Say “Princeton” like an over-the-top Shakespearean actor (roll the “r”, etc.)

LOLZ

I know Harvard and Yale were named after old dudes, but don’t tell me there was a guy named Mr. Princeton.

Do you know of the origin of ur fav college name?

Princeton is a pretty cool name, but I must put Stanford right up there with it as the two most distinguished-sounding names for a college.

Princeton definitely does just roll off the tongue.
sigh

Amherst actually sounds cooler to me than Stanford.

OMG in London, all the tube stops/streets have the coolest names, like “Marble Arch.” lol

and, well, the school was originally named something else (I forget what), and then got renamed Princeton when it was relocated to…guess where? Princeton, NJ.

I don’t know where that name originated, though :)

Yeah, it has “prince” in it. And we don’t have the school where all the chowder-head Celtic fans in Boston say the name weird. And Yale rhymes with fail. So yes, we have the best name.

“The Most Elite-Sounding Name” Award definitely goes to Brown. UPenn is the runner-up.

Really? Brown is just a color…don’t take me wrong, I love Brown, but still…

Amherst sounds like amethyst to me lol. I think Princeton and Cambridge sound pretty elite.

Princeton obviously sounds cool cuz it has the word Prince which has a nice connotation. And a place where princes preside – Princeton, well, that just rolls off the tongue and gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.

I hope?

Olin sounds nice.

and yeah…i prefer Pton :P

Whichever university I get into will sound the coolest to me :P

^well said!

I agree with spideyunlimited!

CrystalProphecy, I was being sarcastic…

@mustafah: I think that might’ve gone over better if you had said something to the effect of “The Most Elite-Sounding Name” Award most definitely goes to the University of Pennsylvania. Nothing screams “elite” like “state school”

True true. I guess I have to work on my sarcastic online posts.

Cornell definitely has the rolls-off-the-tongue appeal.

^ No, it doesn’t. It has the word “corn” in it, lol.

It sounds like a school for hillbillies.

to those that say pton is that how you actually say it too or just type it?
