okay, so my sister is trying to decide whether or not to apply online.
i told her it wouldn't matter, but she won't believe me.
she supposedly heard at school that the form of application (online or paper) will influence her chances.
i told her to apply online because i think it's more simple,
but see, 2 years ago i applied by paper and got in, so she thinks highly of paper application. -_-
-- she thinks that applying online will seem too lazy . or something like that.

anyways, which form did you guys use to apply?
it will definitely help me if i get her to stop worrying.

I applied online and I'm pretty sure everyone else from my school who got in also did. The admissions website will probably say it doesn't matter somewhere... tell her to CHILL ;)

they prefer you to apply online because it is easier for their system to input the basic information - atleast that's what i heard (and that's what i did last year)

thanks
this will convince her enough. she doesn't even trust her older brother

^^haha. awww, that's so cute.

edit: that seemed insincere. i'm serious though.

here's what they told me. they made a move last year to make all applications electronic (meaning app readers will view all applications electronically), that means that if you submit a paper application... they scan the forms into a computer. if you apply online, it only saves the time of scanning paper, none of the readers experience any of the frustration/labor of the paper scanners, so really it doesnt matter. i submitted a paper app because there was a lot of dialogue in my long essay and you can't indent on the online app (youll see what i mean). so yea. also... on a paper app, the character limit isnt concrete. you just have to fit the essays in the box.

essentially, there's no difference. it won't make or break your decision.

^I heard the same.
Online applications are pretty much the norm nowadays, everyone in my school applied online to pretty much all their universities online (including me) :D

I applied online, which is definitely what they prefer if for nothing but Form 1. If you are having a hard time with the uploading of pictures, or formatting of your essay i would send form2 in the paper version. Otherwise they really would prefer to have them sent online.

online. got in. adcom said they prefer online. plus it's safer in terms of forms getting lost and stuff. and easier.

yea, sorry, i didnt mean to imply that they don't prefer online apps. they do, most colleges "strongly urge" to apply online because it saves them a crapload of time and effort. but i mean. paper is definitely acceptable and its likely that the reader wont know the difference.

^how will they not know the difference? paper is...well paper. and electronic is electronic. and also, if they/you print out a copy from online, i believe it says something like "online" or "copy" across it. and also the format is ridiculously neater than any paper copy could be.

everything is electronic meaning paper apps are scanned. but yea, i dont know how good the scanners are. i applied paperly and everythings good, im just saying, dont be scared of paper apps.

and i disagree about that the format is neater electronically. essays without indents are annoying.

I applied online..less anxiety about them getting the forms, plus i clicked SUBMIT like 5 min before midnight and knew it got there

^good point. you have more time w/ the online one too.

haha. OCD anyone? jp

haha it probably is OCD. but arent we all crazy? :p like i said before, my long essay had lots of dialogue, and it just looks ... gross without indents.

edit: my long essay was all dialogue
