Right back at you, dancemomdee! We are going to the Thursday performance as well. Maybe we will run in to each other. :-)

Anyone know anything about towson? Auditioning there, mason gross, buffalo and montclair state if anyone is familiar with either auditions but I doubt it since most of them haven’t occurred yet

pmcolorado - have you heard anything from ailey / fordham yet?

@78jade had a friend audition for Towson in October, she said it was very low stress, not that bad she found out about 2 weeks later that she was accepted.

I’ve already had my Muhlenberg audition and I’m planning to audition to Rutgers Mason Gross in December, LIU CW Post, Point Park, and Pace in January, and Marymount Manhattan in February. So, please keep this forum posted regarding audition experiences and what not to help the rest of us!

@Fordham19 - No! We have not heard anything from Fordham yet, either the Ailey program or the university. She attended the their 6 week summer intensive this past summer and did well, cast in a good repertory piece and her teachers liked her. She was hoping that might help at least get her an audition but no word yet, and she submitted her dance app early. Do you know if anyone else has heard about an Ailey/Fordham audition yet. She is nervous…

We are still waiting to hear from Fordham/ Ailey. I thought I read on the Fordham site that we would hear something by December 15th. I guess we’ll just have to wait, but it is frustrating.

caymangirl38, pmcolorado - we’re still waiting as well. i know the site says we’ll hear by 12/15. however, the nyc auditions begin 12/10. so i’m thinking some folks may hear before then.

caymangirl38, pmcolorado - spoke with ailey today. nyc audition notices will go out in 2 to 3 weeks. not sure of notifications for other audition locations. good luck to all.

Thanks for the info Fordham19. Boy, makes it hard to get a reasonable flight with the late notice. We put DC Jan 4 as first choice and Dallas Dec 14 as second choice. Would hope to hear with enough time to book travel… DD is a bundle of nerves!

What did you think about SUNY Buffalo? We really loved the campus, but we are unsure about the dance program. My daughter was not overly impressed with the quality of dance based on the performances, although there were a few outstanding dancers. My daughter did not find the audition to be particularly challenging, but she stressed that the jazz class audition at Shenandoah was so challenging that she was not sure any would hold up to that! Lol. We are at Point Park today. She is extremely nervous today as there are over 54 dancers here.

My D is doing the Point Park audition on Dec. 8th in Atlanta. We’re wondering how many will be there auditioning. I’m obsessed with checking the mail for something from Fordham. We chose a date in January in Miami and our 2nd choice was Atlanta. I guess we’ll be waiting a little longer.

We were told that they audition between 500-600 for 75 spots. That doesnt include recruitment from performing arts schools.

We thought the performance was good, with a few outstanding dancers. We did find it interesting that they stressed their emphasis on versatility, but that all the pieces in the show were similar except for the one musical theater piece. We were hoping to see some tap! My D said that there were a lot of very good dancers in her audition group.

I agree, not a lot of versatility at the show. Good luck to you daughter! We only have one more school that we are definitely auditioning for. Hoping to hear from Shenandoah soon.

laurelj84 - Has your DD been to the LMU audition and if so what was it like? What about Chapman?
DD auditioned for U of A at the Jazz Festival. No more auditions until Feb and there are a lot.

caymangirl38, pmcolorado - DD just received her audition invitation for Ailey. FINALLY!!! It will be December 10th. good luck to you all.

Congrats fordham19! Did you get a letter in the mail or an email? Are you on the east coast? We are still waiting nervously…

Pmcolorado - we got an email. It came from Ailey. We’re in western New York.

@sewingmom:
My DD attended LMU auditions alone (so I can’t provide first hand experience), but from her perspective here is how they went: Prospective students attend classes with regular LMU students and are evaluated on their performance during class. Placement is based on the questionnaire your dancer completes beforehand. One downside: on the particular Thursday in October on which my DD auditioned, mid-term evaluations were also being conducted, so the focus seemed to be on the current students.
Chapman - I did attend with DD. Current students greeted you at at the door, send the prospective students into a warm up studio and gave parents the opportunity to view a performance video or wait in the front lobby. It seems that start times are staggered, so there is not a long wait until the auditions. Instead of classes, prospectives performed a solo of 2 minutes or less in front of small panel of judges, followed by a short interview. A dance teacher stopped by and visited with the parents to tell us a bit about the program - everyone was extremely friendly and approachable.
DD just did her fourth audition today, for Pace.
