Anyone Auditioning Soon?

Laurelj84 - what was the Pace audition like?

Just got the email this evening- D was accepted at Buffalo! I’m so relieved!

@pmcolorado - Pace audition was small - I believe their first time in Dallas? - 10-15 dancers from mostly TX, also a few midwest states like KS, MO. 4 classes - ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap (no modern!). An informative info session/Q&A with dancers, and then with parents. I understand that there are about 8 more auditions, mostly in NY, with larger groups of up to 70. So glad to have 4 done!

Wow Berricre8v, that is great news! Congrats to you and your D!

Congrats! My daughter received her artistic acceptance to Buffalo as well. She has not completed the academic process yet. We are still awaiting decisions from Shenandoah and Point Park. Does anyone know how long the process is for acceptance or denial after all of the application is received and is being reviewed? Her file has been in the review status with Shenandoah since 11/11 (we did not have SAT scores sent untl after the audition, which was on 10/24. Her audition with PPark was on 11/15 and her application has been under review since 11/19. We are very anxious! Her two top choices are Point Park and Shenandoah

My daughter received her academic acceptance to Point Park about 10 days after they had all of her scores, etc. It was pretty quick. She also got her academic acceptance to Marymount Manhattan in less than a week after submitting the Common App. Now we are just waiting on auditions. Hopefully we’ll hear from Fordham soon. DD really wants to audition there.

Thanks Caymangirl38  I guess I should just relax, since it has been under two weeks for PPARK and just about 2 weeks for Shenandoah. Good luck to your daughter with Fordham. That was my daughter’s dream school, until she spent the summer at Ailey. Although she did not like the campus, she did however, love the studying at Ailey!

My daughter just received her acceptance to Shenandoah, which is her top choice along with Point Park!! We are super excited. I do think Point Park would be a better match for her in terms of the level of dancing, but she fell in love with Shenandoah’s campus and really seemed to like the faculty. We will see what happens with Point Park. UARTS is next, but I have a feeling she will not like the campus.

Congrats to your daughter ‘dancemomdee’ on your D’s acceptance to Shenandoah. My DD 1st. audition is in about 2 weeks for Point Park. It is a very stressful thing to go through. I can’t wait until its all over. I know its so competitive out there, I hope she gets in for dance somewhere. Her dance school is not a competition studio whatsoever. That makes her nervous. She started taking extra ballet and modern classes several months ago at another studio about 40 minutes from our house. She did that to get better ballet/modern training. Because her current school is lacking lately due to a number of things going on there. Hope its pays off. Did anyone hear from Fordham/Ailey lately? I know there was 1 person on this board that received an audition. I wonder if they send them out as it gets closer to the date we chose for an audition. I hope DD at least gets an audition. I hate these pre-screening things they have to go through.

I feel your pain, we have been taking extra classes at a studio about an hour from home to get that extra training for the past three years, because we do go to a competition studio and I believe some of the focus gets lost at times at comp studios. The PPark audition was super crowded. My daughter mentioned that she did not find the classes to be all that difficult, if that helps. She received a tip from a friend who attends PPark to pay close attention during the jazz segment of the audition, which can be somewhat challenging if you have a hard time picking up choreography. Good luck and if you have specific questions regarding the audition let me know! I hope you hear from Fordham soon!

I auditioned for Roger Williams University on Monday nice, small school, nice dance facilities and faculty. There was only 9 of us auditioning, but we took an advanced modern class with the senior and junior dance majors. Then we all watched each other solos and asked and answered questions. I have received my academic acceptances from Point Park and Marymount Manhattan, just need to audition.

Good luck JDancer!

Caymangirl38 - tried to reply to your message but system wouldn’t let me as I haven’t posted 15 things yet. Answer is, no not yet. :frowning: We requested DC Jan 4.

pmcolorado, caymangirl38 - DD received her audition notice 11/22 for ailey/fordham just two and a half weeks before her audition in nyc on 12/10. fortunately, we’re within driving distance and a hotel room was available near the hotel we usually stay when visiting nyc. i suspect you’ll hear something over the next week or two due to the holiday. all dancers are to be notified by 12/15 - not giving much time for travel arrangements if you need them. i’m sure you’ll be fine. hang in there.

Thanks for the replies. Just anxiously waiting. We just got home tonight from a Thanksgiving Dance Convention and are gearing up for the Point Park audition one week from today. I will post something if and when we hear from Fordham.

Crazy! We have to fly to every audition and have been planning all of the trips. Everything locked in except this one. Hoping for word soon. She did the Ailey intensive this past summer and did well there, hope that counts for something!

Still no word here yet either. The only ones we have to fly to are Mulhenberg, Univ of the Arts, and Rutgers. All of the NY schools we will be doing in Florida. That saves some money at least. DD also is applying to Columbia College Chicago. I read somewhere on these boards about their dance program. There are no auditions for that one. We’re hoping that will be a safety school. Also Mulhenberg doesn’t require auditions, only if you want to be considered for a scholarship. So we are doing that one, and she’ll get to visit the campus at least. When we sent in the Fordham/Ailey application and pictures, etc. I sent it overnight through the post office about 5 days before it was due. Well when I tried tracking it, they of course couldn’t find it. It was Oct. 31st and they still didn’t know where it was. I talked to so many people, even the Radio City post office who was the delivering office, and they had no idea. We were in a absolute panic, so we got everything filled out again, printed more pictures, and sent it overnight through UPS. Then about Nov. 3rd. I get a call from the postmaster in NYC and he said he checked on it and it WAS delivered. So now they have 2 envelopes from my DD. So maybe Fordham/Ailey will really think she wants to come there. Who knows. Then DD was nervous because she’s had quite a few dance teachers over the yrs. and she tried her best to remember exactly how long she spent with each of them for each class. She’s worried maybe each app she sent might be slightly different in the training area. Its hard to go back 15 years in dance classes and remember all of that. Anyway I’m very anxious. And DD is having the Point Park audition on Sunday in Atlanta. I know they said you’ll hear by the end of December on that one.

Would it be a no-no to call or email Fordham? I think it would only be fair considering you all to make travel arrangements…

Can anyone tell me how long it takes Pace to review prescreen materials? D just got her ID number and we are uploading tonight. I’m wondering if she will have a chance to attend the Dec 14 audition. That would be the best date for us, but I know we are cutting it close now.

We emailed Ailey last week to ask - hope that doesn’t count as a ding against us! This is what they emailed back today -
“Notifications are sent out in order of audition city. All notifications will be sent out by the end of this week. Thank you for your interest in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program.”
So … keep watching your email and mail I guess!

@Berricre8v - she submitted prescreen materials to Pace on 10/16 and got her invite on 10/17.
