this is… indeed a great thread. huhuhahahahahaha . yes I’m jealous. because when people say they have joined 4 clubs for 4 years. 3 internship. 500 hours of volunteer work experience, 10 awards and a hook, I feel so jealous as I’m thinking even if I’ll apply to 5 reach, 8 match, 4 safety,2 financial safety, I’m not going to get into anywhere. But I think it is not going to happen.

here is my input to a prodigious student

a week has 168 hours. so basically one has 45 hours of school class and 45 hours of sleeping. that is 90 hours. he or she has to study 45 hours and has to be a member for club 42.75=11 hours. you have to take a meal all right??? so that is (253*7)/60=8.75 hours. so he has spent 154.75 hours doing this stuff. and play a sport that is 4 hours per week. one have to go to toilet that is 5 hours!!! so this prodigy is left with a free time of 3.5 hours.

how long this prodigy haven’t take a shower I wonder… hahahahahah

guccigirl:
That is exactly what my friends say, but what i think is that the people who are worse than you, probably do not have a chance in getting admitted into the same college as you. On the other hand, the people who are much better than you are applying to the same colleges as you and are getting the spot. This is what make me so envious and make me wish that I knew what steps to take the second I entered Junior high…
drexter: it amazes me that you calculated that. Props to you for thinking of that. hahaha

Have you looked at results threads? Those who have got in had really few ECAs compared to the people who didn’t get in. So i think it is quality over quantity. And we can’t say one another as we don’t know story of everyone. If someone has a unique story like he had to do a part time job while in high school and maintained straight A’s. And has a SAT of 2000 will get in before a kid with SAT over 2250.

“So i think it is quality over quantity”

Which still sucks, because then the criticism becomes “You lack quality!” And I never realized ECs were necessary in the first place until last year.

I honestly think it’s more about selling yourself as a person than as a group of numbers at the most selective universities. For that reason, I’m putting that I’m on Plucker’s Wall of Flame because pro.

I know what you mean =/ I feel like I’m just not good enough for the schools I applied but then it turns out I got accepted into all of my schools so far. Still waiting for one more but im thinking it’s a rejection lol

Yeah a lot of stuff on here seems to be greatly exaggerated and deceptive. I have caught them lying myself. For example,

“A lot of the stuff on here seems to be greatly exaggerated and deceptive. I have caught them lying myself. For example, one person claimed to have a FIDE chess rating of 2150 (which would place him at master status), and after I grilled him on it for a while, he admitted that it is an online rating from chess.com! I second sosomenza’s post.”

If one were to refer to my old post, NO WHERE does it claim that I have a “FIDE chess rating of 2150”. Albeit the original post was ambiguous, gameofthrones1 “greatly exaggerated” his conclusions that they were FIDE ratings. My post merely says chess (rating 2150).

Furthermore, google the definition of “lying”. Perhaps “deceptive” is a little more apposite given the context, but by no means can the situation be labeled as “lying”. However, in your case my dear friend, you are indeed lying by twisting the situation in your favor.

Oh, my ever so loving friend, Gameofthrones1, I got 3rd Place at my first National Chess Tournament this weekend and a giant trophy out of it. I think the two of us are going to have a beautiful relationship down the road.

Gotta love how hypocritical some people can really be…what a wonderful world we live in. Haters gonna hate

“Just keep throwing rocks at the throne, don’t matter cause nothing can break my zone” -guesswho?

One thing… most of the people here (>98%) are high school students) so it is important to realize that most of these weather forecasts will not express what is true.

I am happy for everyone on here getting into their schools. I do get disappointed though when people start talking about applying to 20 different schools around the country, because I have to commute, can’t move, and could only apply to two. I wish I had more options, especially since I haven’t heard back from them yet. But I will feel much better if I get in to one.

Wow, I guess I kind of feel better…
But yeah, still stressing on the fact that I might not have that “quality”
