Anyone else have a son or daughter going to Franklin College of Switzerland

My daughter found out this week she is accepted into FC of Switzerland--anyone out there want to correspond who is in a similar situation? I would love to meet some other parents of kids who will be going to school in Europe. Thanks!

I work with someone whose daughter is a junior at Franklin College. She loves it! If I can find out some specific information for you, let me know.

My daughter has a friend who is a sophmore there and she also loves it.

Thanks for replying! If I can think of any specific questions, I'll let you know!

Wow, I never heard of it. Is it the Swiss campus of an American college?

One thing I remember my co-worker saying (besides the fact that it is GORGEOUS there), is that Switzerland is an extremely expensive place to live. We visited Switzerland last summer and I agree - everything costs a lot. So do take that into consideration; there are always costs beyond tuition, room, and board for college students - and in Switzerland, that will run you much more than it would in the States.

I'm awaiting word on if I was accepted to Franklin. I just talked with an admissions officer in an interview today. She said I'd be getting word by sometime next week. I didn't think there were that many people applying. :D

oregonianmom--you are right, it is expensive there. We visited there last spring and it is definitely full of expensive cars, shops, etc. Hopefully my daughter will be able to mainly eat on campus and find some more affordable places to shop, dine, etc. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

That is great you had an interview iwth them--have you heard back yet Keleso? Is that where you are hoping to go to school?

I am interested in knowing why Franklin College? It seem like a fairly well known school, considering it's outside of the US.

For someone interested in international studies, languages and travel, it is a good choice--small school in the Italian region of Switzerland, includes academic travel twice a year, beautiful location and campus. We visited there last spring and liked the people, facilities and programs a lot.

I was accepted by mail about a week after the interview. I may go, it depends on how much I can get in financial aid.

Keleso--Do you know when we will hear about financial aid and merit aid?

February 15th

Hi,
My son and his best friend are attending Franklin College this Fall. We just went to the college open house the other week-end in San Francisco and enjoyed meeting parents of current students, alumni and the college president. My son can not wait to go to Franklin.

I received my financial aid reward today, and it was very poor. Out of the $44,500 dollar tuition, I received $11000 with both merit and need ($9000 + $2000). That's just a little too pricey for a school like Franklin. Good luck everyone on your awards.

D's good friend goes there, seems it is more of a party school than she expected.
