I keep finding all these international threads like "Singapore Thread" and "China Thread" and many others ;-)

So I was curious if any of you cc'ers are applying to US colleges from Switzerland, like I am.

So I was curious if any of you cc'ers are applying to US colleges from Switzerland, like I am.
;-)

My daughter applied to Franklin College in Lugano and was accepted. She is still trying to decide if she wants to go there next year or to John Cabot University in Rome. Where are you applying? Also--does anybody out there know anything about John Cabot? Thanks!

You and your daughter live in the US and are applying to colleges in Europe? I'm just the other way around: I'm applying to some ivies and smaller schools in the US from Switzerland. ;-) My safety school is here as well (ETH Zürich), I've never heard of either of those schools. Are they like American Colleges, or are they Swiss resp. Italian?

I am Swiss and attending a US boarding school and am applying to schools in the US and Europe.

So, from the Swiss perspective, what are the top colleges in Switzerland, and what is the appeal of U.S. universities?

Top Colleges in Switzerland:

ETH in Zurich for sciences,
St. Gallen Uni for Economics,
And Lausanne, Basel and Zurich U for pretty much anything else

appeal of US universities:

liberal arts education, which doesn't exist here. Here, you choose your major and then that's ALL you do.
also, campus life. doesn't exist here. and they work you to the bone, especially at the ETH, where free time is a word used by others. (this doesn't bother me, but is dreaded by many.)
thirdly, the adventure and the prestige. And the english language, because it's the most important one at the moment ;-)

bump. Seriously, no Swiss applicants?

^ there must be. you happen to be the only one on cc :)

What an astute observation, prateek. Never would have thought of that possibility myself. Truly.

I guess that makes me special :) hmmm..... btw, have you seen the size of the Indian thread, (hint hint)?

jk :)

that thread.....its just proportional to our population ;)
