my school policy is that they send the transcript with the mid year report. i guess ill request another transcript to be sent

my counselor faxed in the school supplement and midyear report yesterday and today its not shown as missing anymore. Pomona must be speeding up the processing. I'm still missing the initial school report though

I just got an email from Pomona saying my application supplement is missing even though I sent it nearly 3 months ago (in early december!!). Does Pomona have an application status online??

My son just found out that what his GC sent in for the mid-year report is not what Pomona wants, though it was good enough for the other 9 schools he applied to. We are on break until Tuesday, so he can't do anything about it until then. I'm feeling jerked around in absentia.

wait can you explain what your GC did wrong because im afraid that is what my counselors might have done

Pomona has its own form called "Required School Report Supplement" that the GC is supposed to fill out in addition to the regular school report form. My son did mention this to GC a long time ago, but he said the regular HS report form would be enough. It isn't. We are on break, but son will bring it in to GC on Tuesday and he will fax it and mail it in then. What a headache!

Oh, great. One more thing to worry about. Pomona's special "school report supplement" somehow slipped under our radar, in the flood of application and financial aid work we've had to deal with. Thanks, bethievt, for letting everyone know on this.

I believe the Pomona "school report supplement" is supposed to be sent in with the counselor's report (before the January deadline) rather than with the mid-year report. Fortunately our counseling office secretary noticed that we didn't have that form and we were able to get it in to the GC in the fall. But it is nice that Pomona will take a missing form now. Of course it makes their number of completed apps higher!

Hang in there guys. I doubt that Pomona is taking the missing form now to increase their app numbers- they probably are behind in their process, and figure there's no harm in accepting a few late forms.

I remember their school report supplement when my son applied last year - it asked a few different questions than the form that is part of the common app. and did state that this form was necessary and could not be substituted. When my son was organizing his materials, he asked me about it, and I suggested he just include it as stated. It throws you a curve because the other common app schools have a different form.
An inexperienced high school counsellor could really make things difficult for a student if they decided that the form wasn't necessary. I remember my son put that form on top with a sticky note when he turned them in to his counsellor, and all was well.

I know this isn't exactly on topic. However, because of the anxiety some of you have expressed, I just thought I'd pass on this info that someone else might need...

We missed the deadline (Feb 1st) for the 2005 tax info that's required for their financial aid. We'll be more than a month late, since we JUST this weekend re-read what's required & saw this. (This is in addition to the 2006 tax info.) I think we'll probably be okay, since we made the FAFSA & CSS profile deadlines - I hope.

I looked over this supplement and I'm quite sure everything on it is covered by the school profile our HS sends or the CA guidance report.

DS got a letter from Pomona admissions office saying his app is complete. The mid-year report was sent from his HS on 2/23, so it must have taken them a couple of weeks to get all the filing done.

dadx3

Was it snail mail or e-mail? My son still hasn't gotten the all-clear on his app. At this rate, I can't see how they'll have their decisions ready by April 1.

Note from Pomona was snail mail received Friday here.

Hi again Dadx3 and BethieVT. We sure are envious of the mail you've been getting. We haven't heard anything from anyone in so long!

Neither have we! We're beginning to feel very unloved.

Son got the same snail mail yesterday.

Also, please be aware that Pomona is not one of the April 1st schools. I believe their website says April 10th. The letter said "early April." [Just so you don't feel slighted if you don't hear by April 1st.]

Pomona was the last school my daughter heard from last year. It was about April 10th, as advertised.

my daughter got the snail mail on Thursday saying her app was complete.
she already knew this from the web site where you could check the status.

Thanks for reminding me about that late date. Pomona is one we only got to see in the summer. That's a tiny little window to arrange a flight, etc. if son wants to re-visit. And REALLY expensive too, I'll bet.
