a few months ago i realized i classified as an international, despite being in the U.S. since second grade and being, i guess, "americanized." we've been applying for our permanent resident status for a few years now and still nothing. i have a year left before college and it does seem a little unfair that my chances are affected significantly by something that completely not up to me. i guess all we have to do is wait and see.
anyone else out there?

Your chance won’t be effected much unless you need significant aid.

i really hope you’re right

I don’t think so. Chances will be affected - just affected much more if you need aid.

90 plus percent of colleges in the US will be happy to take qualified full pay students no matter where they are from this year.

Considering the OP’s statistics, I think he is aiming for the Ivies - which constitute the 10% which are still more selectivity re: internationals.

True…

pokemon3, I’m pretty much in the EXACT SAME boat that you’re in. Lived in the US for 6 years, completely Americanized, and had to apply as an international student asking for aid (ended up getting 5K…thanks, Stanford). Major slap in the face. I don’t have much to add to this discussion except to say that you’re not alone.

Your chances don’t necessarily go down, even if you apply for aid. You have extremely strong stats so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
