Anyone ever got in without financial aid?

I've spoken two times with Dean Gentile on the phone and tried to made her see.....

It's just unfair. My parents have four children to support and yet they will only count two, because my older sisters have finished their graduate studies. Apparently, a four-year post-graduate course in Paris doesn't seem expensive to them....

It's more stuff like that ,too. Dean Gentile said she can't treat anyone in a favourable way..... I wonder, doesn't Amherst use to give kind of merit-based fin. aid to those who don't qualify for need-based, like other Colleges do?

no merit aid. All FA. There are other schools out there that have merit aid. Once the kids are adults and your parents are no longer legally responsible for them, they no longer count as dependents. That isn't just Amherst - that is every school in the US, as far as I know! (Unless the adult is disabled, etc.) They see it as your parents are no longer paying for 2 in school, so they have more disposable money for you.
